INFO: Queens Of The Stone Age is an american hard-rock band formed in Palm Desert, California in 1996. Frontman Josh Homme and the rest of the band quickly became one of the most influential rock bands of the 2000s and onwards. With a string of unique quality albums they’re still going strong today.

I love “Un-reborn Again” though the verses of introducing us to these characters doesn’t really fit with the theme of people dying to retain youth. If you took out the verses it’d be a perfect song for me. That weird groove synth intro is so cool, then the chorus about being entombed in Amber almost able to reach the fountain of youth is so unique. Finally the crescendo of dueling voices and phrases at the end with the illustrative lyrics is just awesome.
“Head Like a Haunted House” is so fun. “Mis-diagnosis with the most-est” is a great line. It’s like a dark comedy.
I have no clue what “Hideaway” is about except it sounds like a guy going after a woman in a club, like he’s a hunter setting traps. I do however love the melody in it.
If you see this Lie, hopefully you’re doing well. I’d like to know your thoughts on the latest album “In Times New Roman”.

This is by far my favourite Qotsa Album. My ranking at the moment:

I couldn't agree more man I I found Queens of Stone age I'm almost I'm 47 years old but I just found them like last year I found the pink Pop festival I want to say 2003 or 2004 and I watched that whole concert went holy s*** how did I miss these guys but so anyways I've been a fan since then I binge watched everything I could and then just yesterday I tried to listen to villains and I cranked it up on my PA system and the first song I believe his feet don't fail me now right and I'm sitting there trying to get into it and halfway through it I went to the next song you know what I'm saying like I didn't even listen to the whole song and the next song I want to say was don't you know the do you like he used to do whatever and I have to agree man I just don't like it and I've heard it interview where he said you know they don't want to become a character of their cells because if you think about it you know he's in almost 50 years old but then again you can still Rock when you're 50 I play guitar and I love to rock out so I think he's worrying way too much about I think he's starting to let the thought of what other people think get into his head I don't know but I agree with you like a four out of 10 man the my favorite song is domesticated animals and that's the acoustic version look for that on YouTube it's it's really good but other than that like yeah there is not there's no playability bro I listen to rated r almost every day my favorite song by Queens is leg of lamb for some reason I f**** love that song anyways as usual great job you're right on point you ought to look into Faith no More there's another man that's very interesting

That album… Didn't give me anything. I listened to it once, and that's it. It's kinda forgetable, nothing there has a real power for me.

I felt like this album has more of an EODM vibe from the 'boogie' feel to it. The production leaves much to be desired but this is my favorite album of theirs. Domesticated Animals has this odd time signature which gives this a song an incomplete yet interesting sound of ascending towards something, just to name one. If you did not enjoy this at first, listen to this album live and it is a million times better (watch the 2017 live versions though, Josh's voice sounds worn out in the 2018 gigs)

Late to the party i know. But completely agree! I was 19 when a girl i liked got me into QOTSA my dad had every album up until clock work. I got into them fast (as a musician i was sooooo blown away by songs for the deaf) but this album was lackluster for me! Guess we as fans expect a kinda repeat of songs for the deaf or their self titled. It has grown on me but being in a band songs for the deaf and their self titled 98 album made such a big impact its hard going into a new album not feelin that same inspiration? If that makes sense haha

Imho, like clockwork is by far the weakest qotsa album. Villains is a huge step up from that, but still not as good as era vulgaris and SftD and so on. This album will probably grow on u like Era Vulgaris did to a lot of people. Revisit this now that we are 1.5 years in the future?

Sorry bro. I respect ur taste in music, but u dropped the ball w this review. Didn't mention the bowie tribute, the heros to villains reference. Unreborn again is a masterpiece a credit to the genre. U have great taste in music, but u lost.

Homme is a veritable rock GOD. Not a single dud in this album. Vintage qotsa, out of deftones, nin, aic these guys edged everybody out. Qotsa is undoubtedly still cutting edge

I'm with you. I need to revisit this one because tbh I only gave it maybe 5 spins or so. This album seems like they just had a bunch of songs leftover and threw them together. Like you said, no concept.

I wasn't disappointed at all with Villains, especially since I kinda personally felt like Like Clockwork just wasn't the album to pull me in. Something about Villains kinda reminds me of Joshua's romp back with Them Crooked Vultures, which is something I can really get behind. Idk, it was late 2017, Queens has been around as long as I've been alive, they're using this album to explore a crisper, cleaner sound, and having fun with that, and I'm having fun with it too. Might not've been my top album to listen to back when it came out (Paramore's After Laughter was on repeat constantly), but it sure was up there, I'm just glad all my fav artists were making new stuff, and most of it was concept albums, late 2017 was just a good time for music in general, imho…

I loved every album from qotsa. Villains was the weakest and i only disliked 1 song on the album ( the way you use to do)

Villains is one of my fave QOTSA albums now, but I understand what you mean in the video… however you have to keep in mind the members and how instrumentation can change with any album release or even live. Jon Theodore only played on one track in …Like Clockwork, and this is his first full-length drumwork on this album. It's gonna be different! Plus Mark Ronson as producer was a great idea, seeing how his previous work in with Bruno Mars shows he has a funky feel, and you can definitely see that in this album. I can see your points though.

Should give more time before doing a review for qotsa. Shit grows on you. Their songs, especially since era vulgaris, are so layered it can take awhile to really sense what is going on with it. Hard to describe. When I first heard queens it sounded messy. Once my ears became disciplined every other band sounds watered down.

yeah idk i like this guy and his approach is nice but i just can't agree. even as a queens of the stone age fan i love this album. I love pretty much most of what joshua homme does even not in queens. i really like this album too

Listen to the album some more…all the tracks grow on you. I would say it's one of their best albums, but you don't sound too thrilled in this review…

Feet Don't Fail Me is a tremendous fucking opener for the album, more so at a live show. Head Like a Haunted House? It's fucking amazing! Love the bass line! The intro before the lyrics jump in is orgasmic!!

It surprises me that you are a Qotsa fan. Because all the things you criticize are the things that make Qotsa Qotsa. Like the "weirdness" of Domesticated Animals. It is exactly that 7/4th beat that makes them the experimental weird guys that they are. You call it unhinged and incohesive, but I think they nailed it. Same level stuff as Money (Pink Floyd).
