1:09:33 Dallas these are fundamental biblical truths you don’t know! Why couldn’t Jesus do many mighty miracles in His own hometown?? Because of their unbelief!! 🤦🏽♂️
@MatthewOchoa
August 12, 2026 at 7:33 am
1:07:49 “I don’t believe that bc my experiences tell me other wise” is what Dallas essentially said. He lets experience determine his doctrine. If you read the gospels, on multiple occasions, Jesus tells those who were healed, “according to your faith let it be done”, “your faith has made you whole” “when He saw their faith…He said pick up your mat and walk”
Yikes

what a beautiful set to have this conversation. Hopefully it was done somewhere around the set of The Chosen. That would be awesome.

1:02:16 no He would not have said that Dallas.
@MatthewOchoa
August 12, 2026 at 7:33 am
57:32 nothing in Dallas’ excuses or reasonings can justify that scene. It’s in total error to the character of Jesus. Just reading the gospel you never see Jesus refuse to heal ANYONE. In fact multiple times it’s recorded that He HEALED THEM ALL. It’s a shame.

39:49 no. You’re incorrect. We Protestants are just as passionate about the reverence of what Jesus went through on the cross and would not appreciate you downplaying it either lightheartedness for the sake of TV.

I feel sorry for Alex. He lives in a world with thousand questions. No answers just a thousand I thinks. I don't want to live life like that. So lonely a fall in a pit without end

Honestly, as a Catholic I think the “brothers” were either cousins, or sons of Joseph. With a preference toward cousins. But I think you could make a good case for Joseph having other sons. I love how the Chosen doesn’t touch it so all denominations can watch it and love it without heavy controversy. Same with House of David.

The little James scene with Jesus was one of the most impactful moments for me in the entire series. I wept. As someone who has two chronic diseases that have no cure and who has physically seen people healed, I live with this dichotomy everyday. It was comforting and real. I don’t understand the why of suffering, but I do know it increases my faith to know that even in it, God dies not ignore it he stepped into it through the cross. That doesn’t mean it’s not hard to reconcile or conceptualize from a theological perspective.

I cant believe how incredible the setting is. I mean, I helped put it all together and was there in person and still. Its more magnificent on this screen now! Shout to the crew who made this happen. All the love!

I don't think a show like this is possible if not directed by a protestant. As Dallas expressed – the comfort level with the humanity of Christ is so clear in the way he is portrayed. The show isn't concerned overly with extreme reverence, but rather a juxtaposition of the flesh and the supernatural, and the possibilities that arise out of this type of narrative.

1:20:12 The “repentance” of Judas is invalid because he STILL didn’t fully understand at this point that Jesus was the fulfillment of an entire temple/sacrificial system of which the purpose was to be a sign of Yahweh’s presence on earth among humanity ultimately pointing forward to Jesus and was placing his faith still in the priests to be the mediators of repentance instead of looking back to Jesus as the source of forgiveness and redemption.

Here's a hyper specific and very off-topic impression: Dallas' voice sounds exactly like the Italian voice actor that used to dub Robin Williams, whose name is Carlo Valli. Great conversation by the way

@Mac16111
August 12, 2026 at 7:33 am
This interview was so sad and so sickening. Talking about myth as if it were real. This guy is making fantasy out of fantasy trying to make it real. Debating the accuracy of fantasy is a activity of the mentally ill. Talking about the accuracy of fiction. This is the core of idiocy. I often say that humans are Druids, concerned with delusions about life and death and weather, and illness. And, we still are.
@Orii-RaePoole
August 12, 2026 at 7:33 am
If you get so ridged with the idea of how a show has got to be its going to be worse than if you naturally let the ideas flow. You cant force creativity through the human mind, if you do it becomes artificial and shallow. Let the show make itself, because ultimately thats whats happening, your a conduit for the creation and trying to control it too much will get in the way. Every good artist knows this. He presumes too much about how jesus etc should be portrayed.

I'm glad The Chosen tv show has a Catholic Priest and that Jonathan Roumie gives some push back because there are multiple heresies stated by Dallas Jenkins here. I'm glad he decided to not include any scenes pushing the narrative that Jesus had brothers or sisters. The Virgin Mary is a Perpetual Virgin and had no other children. She is the New Ark of the Covenant. She carried Jesus in her womb and only a woman with this level of purity and grace could carry Jesus in her womb.

1:14:00 The Book of Mormon addresses the question of evil and suffering in
2 Nephi 2:11-16
11 For it must needs be, that there is an opposition in all things. If not so, my firstborn in the wilderness, righteousness could not be brought to pass, neither wickedness, neither holiness nor misery, neither good nor bad. Wherefore, all things must needs be a compound in one; wherefore, if it should be one body it must needs remain as dead, having no life neither death, nor corruption nor incorruption, happiness nor misery, neither sense nor insensibility.
12 Wherefore, it must needs have been created for a thing of naught; wherefore there would have been no purpose in the end of its creation. Wherefore, this thing must needs destroy the wisdom of God and his eternal purposes, and also the power, and the mercy, and the justice of God.
13 And if ye shall say there is no law, ye shall also say there is no sin. If ye shall say there is no sin, ye shall also say there is no righteousness. And if there be no righteousness there be no happiness. And if there be no righteousness nor happiness there be no punishment nor misery. And if these things are not there is no God. And if there is no God we are not, neither the earth; for there could have been no creation of things, neither to act nor to be acted upon; wherefore, all things must have vanished away.
14 And now, my sons, I speak unto you these things for your profit and learning; for there is a God, and he hath created all things, both the heavens and the earth, and all things that in them are, both things to act and things to be acted upon.
15 And to bring about his eternal purposes in the end of man, after he had created our first parents, and the beasts of the field and the fowls of the air, and in fine, all things which are created, it must needs be that there was an opposition; even the forbidden fruit in opposition to the tree of life; the one being sweet and the other bitter.
16 Wherefore, the Lord God gave unto man that he should act for himself. Wherefore, man could not act for himself save it should be that he was enticed by the one or the other.

I knew this show was potentially a problem when my wife and I kept asking ourselves “did that happen ?” Then we would check our bibles and realize many scenes and dialog were made up, resulting in us feeling a bit exhausted, watching the show continuously questioning, whether or something did or didn’t happen. when I heard Jesus say “oh I’m just getting started” I knew the show wasn’t for us. Glad others enjoy it though, as an artist personally I don’t think I’d ever be able to represent Jesus. In my opinion people who don’t read their Bibles will use the show as a supplement and I think thats potentially a problem.

This show is one of the things that helped bring me to Christ. And solidify my faith. However, after coming to faith, I knew it was something that was not good for me to watch.
I think we need to be careful about what colors our interpretation of the Bible. Like I don’t want to be reading verses in the future in the actual Bible and my mind filling in the blanks with what happened in a show for instance. But maybe I’m just extra sensitive to that. Obviously any Christian can do whatever they want!

I associate each religion with a particular type of metaphysics:
1) I associate Zoroastrianism, Hinduism and Baha'i faith with "monism". Because they focus on common essence between things.
2) I associate Christianity with "dualism" and "pluralism" because of its trinity, mimd-body dualism, pluralistic expansion in the world etc.
3) I associate Judaism with "realism" and "physicalism" because of its "can-be or ability-oriented philosophy", its physicists, its focus on the material aspect of human life and orderly actions.
4) I associate Islam with "idealism" and "mentalism" because of its "should-be or goal-oriented philosophy", its scholars, its focus on the spiritual aspect of human life and polemic power.
5) Balanced: Monotheism: There is monism at the top (unity of mental and physical at higher levels) , dualism at the bottom (separation of the two domains at lower levels), physicalism of Jewdaism on its one side and the mentalism of Islam on its other side. Like a pyramid.
