I’ve been asked a few times by those of you watching what I think about “comedy bands”. Bands that are by definition designed to be a comedy act. My favourite, of course, is Spinal Tap. They are without a doubt an incredible band, even though it’s all an act. Let me explain why.

FWIW Jeff Beck said he loved it first time he saw it, so the story of him walking out might have just been a popular, but untrue , tale. (And he actually played on one of the Spinal Tap albums doing a guest lead break). Oh and if you havent seen it, there is an extra treat in spinal tap with fran drescher being , well , fran drescher.

Frankie Ballini said that he saw the movie in theaters with Herman Rarebell, and the Scorpians drummer got really pissed off.
Honestly, I fell in love with The Darkness because I love stuff like Spinal Tap, but also stuff like Queen.

On july 1st, 1992, "Tap" did it's one day cross canada tour. It was paid for by Canada's Much Music ( canada's MTV) in honour of Canada's 125th birthday. They literally played extremely short sets at various cities in one day ( actually played on stage, this is pre interenet and no big screen). Epic tour.

I don't think I noticed that both Nigel and David were also playin bass until the 4th or 5th time I watched the film. I have certainly watched it at least 50 times.

You are so right, Justin! "Big Bottom" is definitely a lot better, specially in the lyrics, than "Sink the Pink". "Sink the Pink" goes to maybe….7 and a half. "Big Bottom" goes to 11!!!!!! Spinal Tap is THE band of ALL bands in their general category of music….and they have the cleverest lyrics as well. As David St. Hubbins so accurately observes, "It's a fine line between clever and stupid…"

I got to see Spinal Tap in concert and they are excellent musicians. At the show the Stone Hedge monument was so huge they couldn't get it down from the rafters 😂.

Big Bottom reminds me of something I used to do at work called "bad innuendo day."
I'd be canceled for it nowadays, but basically you just say, "If you know what I mean," after everything that you say.

I remember walking past "Our Price Records" and was flaberghasted to see that Spinal Tap at the top of the album chart with their new album "Breaks Like the Wind". Wow!! I thought, then I took a closer look at the album chart. It wasn't number one, they went straight in at the top of the chart at number nought ha ha – brilliant 😀
