James, did you know that has a Norman Battes reference, in the film The Orient Express (1974) from Agatha Crhistie??? Antony Perkins role a characeter on that movie, and at some point, his characeter has interviewed by dective Hercule Poirot, which has investigate a crime that happens in the train, and than Poirot ask:
"Did you loved your mother, Mr. Macqueen?"
And he answered: "Yes! I did! Why do you ask?"
And Poirot answered: "Because last night you cry out your mother's name, while you are asleeping!"

Honestly I remember being 7 or 8 and marathoning this series at my grandparents house. Leaning up against the old broken heater they had the tv sitting on and all my cousins fussing at me to move out of the way. I just really was hooked lol! Note I would not let my kid watch these until older but watching this and the Night of the demons with my big cousins really set up my taste in films

You know, I wouldn’t mind another one of these movies, but like, set in the modern day with multiple parties converging on the old derelict Bates Motel for whatever reason. As the story progresses maybe one or even a few of them start to go a little insane.

No such thing as 'SPLIT PERSONALITY – there's dissociative identity disorder, which has nothing to do with being psychopathic. If anything, Norman was suffering from Munchausen by Proxy syndrome brought about by his co-dependent (likey incestuous) relationship with his mother.
