Power Slapping Needs To Be Stopped

Power Slap is a real regulated combat sport with a $750 million valuation where fighters get paid $2,000 and have an 80% chance of getting concussed, and I have some thoughts about that.

I don’t know anything about sports but I do know that Power Slap, the sport where two people take turns slapping each other as hard as possible, is technically a thing that exists and is sanctioned by the United States government. I look at the official rules, the training process, why the TBS show nobody watched somehow turned into a billion views a month on social media, how Dana White is involved and making a lot of money, and what the people actually doing the slapping are getting paid for the privilege of an 80% concussion rate. I also have a replacement sport to propose. It involves cars.

No, powerslapping needs to be a new form of punishment for criminals of minor things, like the ones who steal small amounts of candy, or the ones who park in the handicapped spots with no handicap, the group of people that are identified by a certain female name, things like that. They need a good slap, because obviously their parents never gave them one, let alone even just a tongue lashing.

I remember seeing one specific power slap match, we could clearly see one of the men was struggling more about contemplating slapping his opponent's extremely swollen face one more time, more than being slapped himself. That's the only match I ever saw, I didn't need to know more about that … occupational hazard.

I don't like it that this thing hurt you or looked bad to me so I'm going to tell everyone that it is bad so I can collect a group of people to make you not do what I don't like.

You know “Guy in a hat” or GIAH for us super fans, really picked up in episode 3 when he meets another guy with a hat. You really should bring it back! Oh missed opportunity car curling… should be Car-ling! Perfect chefs kiss ready for someone to go multimillion franchising, a sport I can truly get behind.

Turns out a business can be super successful if you make millions in ads and only pay peanuts to your performers. Doesn't make it good, doesn't make it quality, just makes it fiscally successful to the people at the top.

The regulation makes the sport worse: if the "athletes" could mitigate the hit by flinching, they'd be less likely to get additional brain damage (beyond the base level of brain damage required to become a Power Slap athlete).
