In Behind The Powwow, Pow! Writer / Director and enrolled Cowlitz Indian Tribal Member Joey Clift gives an in depth look behind the scenes at this award winning animated short film. I think I love the this video even more that the actual short. Getting to know all the fine details and beautiful people who helped create this representation. I am black and grew up broken with a connection of finding my own in black American culture. But, I love seeing modern rep because it just goes to show how the beat down of systemic racism won’t stop communities from evolving and cultures/history will continue to be known. Thanks for sharing this short, always great to see native media.

I really like this short, I have a bit of Native American heritage too. I think the fried bread guy was probably one of the funniest characters in the whole short especially when Poor Jake accidentally loses his dying Game Boy to the fried bread machine.
