Wonderful Tonight was about a woman he abused while addicted to the alcohol that probably made him unable to drive home that night. That and it's boring and it's always sung at karaoke by the douchiest looking whitest bro in the room… at least Sweet Child o' Mine sounded appropriately pained.

0:49 god i need you to do a career retrospective on george ezra (possibly one hit wonderland, idk if his other stuff got popular across the atlantic) cause how do you go from a pretty good debut to writing green green grass

My issues with this song are how some of the words he says sound like “people FOOL in love..” and “on my BEADED heart”. I know he’s English but cmon

I was surprised recently to find out that Ed Sheeran is from a fairly well to do background. His whole image is that of a guy who was busking on the street and got discovered, but his parents are big time art dealers. It makes sense though based on his music though. His music doesn't fit his image but it makes sense if you think of it as coming from someone who has never had to worry about money.

"If I was a sculptor/but then again, no" is indispensable to "Your Song." That is what makes it work as a heartfelt, spontaneous reflection, rather than a schlocky schmaltzfest. I can't imagine it enduring without that line.

And now the family of Marvin Gay's co-songwriter is suing Ed, saying this song is a ripoff of "Let's Get it On".

I guess they never heard of the four chords of pop.

OK, I saw this video when it first came out and I'm finally going to comment on this because it's always bugged me a little whenever I rewatch it; I feel like you don't entirely understand Shrek. Yes, Shrek is largely a deconstruction of various fairytale tropes but ultimately it is still a fairytale itself, crude humour notwithstanding, complete with a romantic Happily Ever After; I don't feel it's invalid to refer to it the way Sheeran did in that song. Not that I like that song at all or think it's a good lyric, I just think it's a little off to describe Shrek as just being "poop and fart jokes and Eddie Murphy".

I love rewatching old Todd videos only to get blindsided by an unintended ad punchline

    4:59
"Will your mouth still remembee the taste of my love?"
"It does. It remembers it being kinda salty."
    ad for mouthwash starts playing

Todd I love your videos! But I've avoided this one for 6 years because I also love this song. It is indeed a corny, overwritten, obvious, precious, and dumb wedding song that rips off both Marvin Gaye (chordally) and Van Morrison (stylistically), and simultaneously manages to be both calculated and naive. And I love it. I think Ed has made a career out of framing himself as a punchable ginger dork that somehow manages to be sensitive and sensual, and is as shocked as anybody that it works. I mean, the dude made himself the butt of a joke in a Lil Dicky video for Gods sake.

Although, the strumming the girls leg like a guitar bit was a little douchey tbh.

All that is to say that, as a former ginger, I will still be loving your content when its sev-en-Tee…and Ed is 106. Rock on!

I also think that the music video is trying too hard. The dance is way too high energy for the song, it’s a bit provocative, and the dress doesn’t go well with his suit
