this video feels like the perfect place to share that i absolutely loathe this song. i made the unforgivable mistake of not submitting the song i wanted to play for my brothers funeral (if you are wondering i had mariah careys butterfly in mind), and now i forever have to live with seeing pictures of my late brother with my family sobbing around me to this stupid song. (no they did not play wiz khalifas part)

Ah, kind of like how 070 Shake adds nothing to every song she guests on.

10:48 this souns like Crossroads by Blazin Squad. from 2002. A UK hip hop collective of mostly teenage Londoners. One of whom ended up in Season 3 of Love Island.

Man… randomly rewatched this and brought back a memory from high school when one of the teachers essentially sacrificed himself to save a pregnant woman from a gunman.
His favorite band was 3 Doors Down…
So they played It’s Not My Time.
I… still feel a bit boggled they chose that song. A song about being scared to die so you chicken out being played in memoriam for someone who died doing something heroic… just… it didn’t quite fit. Like this song with that actor.

You gotta admit, at least Wiz didn't completely fuck this song up by just rapping about how rich he is, like he did in Payphone. He at least had the decency to TRY and pay tribute.

11:30 todd asking for P Diddy at his funeral aged… Oddly
@stephenjones4397

I don’t think you want P Diddy performing at your funeral anymore…

Not sure if Todd is still interested in that P. Diddy funeral sendoff in light of recent events 😬

12:12 "You're not going to hear someone use 'Jumper' to sell iPads."
Funnily enough, my first exposure to "Jumper" came from an episode of MTV's Road Rules 5 that aired back in January 1998. In order to earn some money while in Seattle, the cast members had to film and edit an anti-"unaliving" (ugh) PSA that needed to feature the song "Jumper". That episode burned the song into my brain. It was then released as a single 7 months later and hasn't left radio since.
So it too was used in a commercial, though it was advertising staying alive instead of a tablet.

Todd 2015: …the 7th and final movie in the franchise
Oh Todd, why did you have to be wrong on this one?!

For the part about a "sad movie getting a Fast & Furious theme" you should have used something like Grave of the Fireflies, Schindler's List, or Requiem for a Dream instead of Philadelphia.

fun fact: eminem and chris brown were the first candidates for this song but (i think) both of them turned it down.
other rap candidates for this song were 50 cent and tyga and other candidates for the singing chorus were sam smith, adele and even (no joke) jason derulo.

I know it’s not a perfect song (hell of a lot better than I’ll be Missing You) but it’s a song that always makes me think about the end of the movie. It definitely works better in the context of the movie, but it’s still good enough to stand on its own.

I can't explain why but I actually really like this song. I guess it has something to do with it coming out when I was having a really shitty time in my life (2015 was a fucking terrible year for me).

Gotta be honest I never knew this backstory for the song. I thought it was just about a break up or something. Maybe a kid leaving for college. Never did it cross my mind this was about death

My primary school would sing this in the last years of my being their to the p7s leaving. So i have some heavy feelings of never seeing friends again and moving on from childhood tied to this song.

They actually preformed this song at the memorial service for Kobe Bryant, like Wiz and Charlie had to drop what they were doing and rush to the Staples Center to play this song live

Man, if Charlie Puth is on a song and he's NOT the main thing Todd hates about it…

I dedicated the song to the those who are close to me. It helped me so much…..cuz, as cliché as it is, see you again was comforting to me.

The thing that’s aged worst about this video is that you think it’s the last Fast and the Furious movie.

I realize most hit music isnt there to make you dance or sad or provoke any emotional response, it is just to fill your time……so why focus mainly on hits and not go beyond hits? Todd, you mainly focus on generic mainstream commercial music and you dont take the effort to go beyond that, why?
@robertsteinberger5667

It might be a bit rude,
But i got fucking sick of this song,
Every 10 minutes this song got played in 2015,
It's kinda hard to have a good day when you get reminded that someone died a year ago,
And my family loved this god damm song, so they always listened to this song whenever it played on the radio

I dunno man, I think it blew up the same way most songs like this do and that’s simply because it’s so easy to connect when you suffer loss. One of my oldest friends died around this thing’s debut. It’s not about Paul Walker to me. Ironically enough, same thing with Puff’s tribute song. And Jumper. And for the record, overlay Jumper with a skateboarding commercial or free running and it hits the same as see you again and a car ad

While I do agree with this review, the hard 90s bias kinda saps some credibility from it. I feel like it comes across a bit too much as some bitter 90s kid complaining about "music these days," which for me ruined an otherwise salient critique. However a counter argument to this could be that there's a lack of recent similar examples to compare this song to, so there's that.
