4:25 I’m annoyed that Todd would fall victim to the dumb trick of playing a rap hook and saying the rapper is a bad lyricist. Especially when he’s right migos aren’t good lyricists
@ThomAvella
October 5, 2025 at 6:06 pm
playing the versace hook as an example of the migos' supposed lack of lyricism is insane levels of cherrypicking

The sound effects are adlibs used as punctuation for their flows

He’s firing the uzi till the barrel is hot and applying it to the spoon. The crockpot must be another cooking session cause no way could a hot barrel heat a crockpot

It's been seven years and I still don't get Migos. As far as I can tell this was just popular because of the beat. The lyrics could've been gibberish and it would've been exactly as popular.

It's so fun watching reviews of old songs with hindsight. This song was super influential and will go down as a classic.

These rap songs are about the vibe and feel of the song, the rapping has to just keep that vibe, the content isn’t important as long as it sounds good, if you want thought provoking rap you in the wrong sub-genre.

Is it weird that M.C. Wokeness does sound like a legit parody rapper to me? I would listen to his songs just because they exist, though.

Oh you were way out of your lane on this one 😂 turned into the old man who didn't evolve with the genre. And playing the Versace hook trying to diss lyricism 🤦🏿♂️

Does Todd just not like rap music?
@Zomdra
October 5, 2025 at 6:06 pm
10:58 I appreciate that Todd called it out briefly but it's still depressing to me that a high profile, popular song could just drop a homophobic slur like that and totally get away with it, even back in 2017.

Not getting a piece of music and not liking a piece of music are indeed two different things. But they aren't mutually exclusive.

Todd went from putting a Kanye & Jay-Z song on the year-end list because the lyrics got him hyped up to completely overanalyzing the lyrics to a Migos song

Please never stop reviewing the newest rap. Your innocent confusion while wrestling to grasp the newest lingos is refreshing and oddly sweet.

I hate this song but I like it in the same way that I like any earworm song. The way they say the lines and the inflection they put on the words makes it extremely catchy to me. That’s the only part. But I can’t stand Lil Uzi Vert‘s verse

Ugh, makes my 44 year old ass miss Wutang.😔 Hell, this is so bad, it makes me miss Tenacious D. These feckers typically just repeat two to four words over and over.

If u don’t like how new age rap sounds devoid of energy, mumbly & same, why don’t you listen to xxxtentacion. Specifically his sound cloud music as he puts some energy into it.

I freeze-framed trying to figure out where in VB that photo is. It doesn't look like town center which has like, the only skyscaper if you can even call it one. (Ok, maybe there's one other tower by Mt Trashmore.) So is that Norfolk or just a random small city as an example? I feel lost. ._.

Trying to find deeper meaning in this bad and boujee is the biggest example of over thinking ever. Lighten up Todd. Lol. Misery shouldn't be your only friend. Believe u me, I hate the song too but I took it for face value and kept it pushing. Lol
