Polar Extremes I Trailer I NOVA I PBS

NOVA PBS Official | January 13, 2026

In this two-hour special, renowned paleontologist Kirk Johnson takes us on an epic adventure through time at the polar extremes of our planet. Following a trail of strange fossils found in all the wrong places—beech trees in Antarctica, hippo-like mammals in the Arctic—Johnson uncovers the bizarre history of the poles, from miles-high ice sheets to warm polar forests teeming with life. What caused such dramatic changes at the ends of the Earth? And what can the past reveal about our planet’s climate today—and in the future?

Tune in or stream our two-hour special “Polar Extremes” on Wednesday, Feb. 5 at 8/7c on PBS: https://to.pbs.org/30LtZkr

If you're wondering where the full documentary went, it was delisted from YouTube the other month. It had 2.2 million views. It's still on the PBS Nova website—for now. Funny how the people that claim to be in favor of free are now using the government to silence anything they disagree with, including proven scientific research.

I wish these global warming cultists would find another hobby. These leftist turds need to lead by example and get themselves off of fossil fuels….or for Christ's sake…..shut the fu-ck up.

The information is not totally new and the video is well organized, partially educational and interesting! However, it does not explain how the "greenhouse" periods turn into "ice ages" again and again! What was the mechanism for the carbon dioxide (CO2) reduction in the atmosphere during those from hot to cold transition periods during the 500 million years represented? Or how does a terrestrial atmosphere with relatively high concentrations of CO2 change back to an atmosphere with much lower concentrations of CO2 during ice periods? In the end, the author partially fails in his mission by ignoring easily available technologies that at least at our human scale could radically reduce and even eliminate most CO2 emissions! Instead he fearmongers by emphasizing uncertainty and future cataclysmic events associated with the human cause of an anticipated and inevitable Climate Change! As it relates to the human factor, this could have been easily avoided at least for a few thousand years by making reference to nuclear technologies to produce the power we need! The nuclear technology does not produce CO2. It has been proven because it is safe, cost-effective, cheap, clean and sustainable! But apparently and unfortunately for the current inhabitants of the Earth ecosystem the blind are still leading the blind!

I watched this doc, it was interesting. I live in Michigan and over the last few years we've had more months below normal than above. Record amount of ice on the Great Lakes during 3-2014 (NOAA-GLERL). The summer of 2019 was the worst year I've had gardening in 30 years. It was too cool and wet, plants didn't grow much. we ended up with very little food. If I had a choice between being warmer or being colder, I'd choose being warmer!

Now I know where "they" got the backdrop footage for the Mars explorer expedition.
This proves His-story is WRONG and the poles have flipped history is a lie!
    NASA is robbing us daily!
