Charlie's comedy is great… or, in Midwest speak, not too bad. Charlie needs to do a Wisconsin vs Minnesota guy video… but, of course, no direct conflict. We are fighting the MN vs WI holy war with passive aggressive comments that no one outside of MN or WI understands. Maybe have the CA girl bring MN and WI together with our mutual love of MN institutions like Target and Toro and WI institutions like Menards and KwikTrip… but then MN guy implies Dairy Queen soft serve is better than Culver's custard and the whole thing falls apart.

I am so sorry you are performing in Minneapolis during the coldest week of the year. Then again it could freakishly warm up just that week. But I doubt it. At least you go straight to San Diego and Las Vegas to warm up again. Good thinking.

"It wouldn't be so bad out if it wasn't for the wind."
Not really a turn of phrase but a common enough saying.

What a brilliant observation. I often wonder how certain phrases came about, but that one never occurred to me, and it seems like it should have!

Screwed the pooch is also a New England phrase.

We use "I screwed the pooch" here in Quebec too and even translated it in our very bilingual French way:"J'ai fucké le chien!". It's total, abject failure. 😄

Another Midwest phrase that I only recently realized was regional – 'it's a horse a piece'
Used when two given options are roughly equivalent, similar to 'six of one, half dozen of the other'

Actually it's mainly because the plastic surgery would constantly snap since the Midwest "Especially The Upper Part" exists in a state where the ol' Mercury sits below 32° for at least 3/4th's of the year.
