Very insightful and informative discussion. In particular, Omar Baddar was absolutely spot-on about Israel's intention to make the Gaza Strip uninhabitable. Please bring this gentleman back for a follow-up interview in light of Trump's disgraceful "Gaza Riviera" comments.

But how would shooting, raping, beheading, setting fire make your case?

This is the first time I've heard a podcast present the Palestinian perspective. So many in the west don't know the history & belive that Hamas is just a terrorist group that attacked Israel unprovoked. Decades of living in an open air prison is plenty of provocation.

I love your advice to listen and find off-ramps…. To search for solutions by searching for the fundamental issues under the voices. When different perspectives speak in terms to attract a loud following, frequently the core issues get so buried in “marketing verbiage” or ideology friendly speech rather than core issues, discussion of resolution becomes win lose instead of win-win reconciliation.

It was a great conversation. But when Tom talks about Mandela being a hero of his and it still puts him on the fence on the israel/palestine issue. That's a big red flag in my book.

Why don’t Israel and the rest of the countries in the Middle East sort out their own problems that have gone on for two thousand years all over a piece of dirt that nobody in their right mind would want to live in
@amyclarke-gv3gs

You have always been a good listener and here too. But in one show I heard you reflect back on your understanding of the "conflict" and you reduced it to each side wanting all the land the other to leave. There never was nor is a parallel. Power is not equal and we are all implicated. You mentioned a scenerio from the perspective of the oppressor, which is if the slaves can show that they are civilzed we will give them their freedom. I don't think I need to spell out how this perspective is skewed. Never forgot whose land this was-
Palestine, and who the oppressors are-the european jews who are settler colonialists. The violence of these israelis and their racism is not to be quickly discarded in a posture of trying to be fair. There is no justification for apartheid, genocide and the palestinian holocaust. And Palestinians do not want all the land, as you once mentioned. They simply want what you want– dignity, respect and not be shot, bombed and killed by terrorist israelis. Accepting the racisim of Israel and trying to address their violence and terror with soft gloves doesn't help anyone and does see palestinians as humans.@Debra-gt8tk

That Prime Minister that OCCUPIES Israel is an atrocious brutal DICTATOR: that continues to disregard the entire world and the UN; while he is under "indictment" by his own judicial system and politicians whom he has appointed.
He chooses to murder, and/or silence to anyone who questions his decisions.
He defines the true meaning of the 3rd Anti-Christ thru his heinous acts of GENOCIDE and a Palestinian HOLOCAUST!
The 2nd world war with Germany & Adolf Hitler that created: the JEWISH Genocide & Holocaust is exactly the same that Israel is committing on the Palestinians.
Israel: Adolf Hitler and Germany educated you well on how to become;
the breeding ground and spawn of the 3rd Anti-Christ: that will create the 3rd (final)
UNHOLY WAR that will have an "eternal judgement" that will effect the precious "gift" of life itself!

:58 – the kind of Palestinian state Israel is offering is no different from what USA offered to native First Nation people and by the apartheid South Africa to the Zulu people – it has a terminology called Bantustan. If you read these other two history there are striking similarities. After Lakota upraising USA divided the land into many small disconnected pieces called Indian reserves isolating Lakotas into small bands of few families. These families have to traverse USA state lands and roads to reach other Indian reserves if they have to go meet their extended families. Similar was done to Zulus in South Africa in orange free state that they made smaller tiny semi autonomous states for zulus and are surrounded by the apartheid South Africa which is controlled by Europeans. This plan completely limits what these people can do and they be under totalitarian control of the super state.
Western Europeans have never been genuine when it comes to making peace.

Again , who fired first ??? , I'm not siding withe the Palestinians … I have a problem with them pointing their fingers at Israel , and not at their own corrupted leaders , and yes it is a Religious war .. and a fight for land .. Innocent people are killed on both sides of this war .. Give up the hostages from Israel .. and you could change my mind .. And what did Putin have to say to Iran's Leaders about 3 weeks ago ??? Never will I go by people that have said DEATH TO AMERICANS .. Which Israel never has said that .. This old man didn't forget what they have been saying for the last 20 years …

Such an ignorant guy and so many dumb people in the comments.
There is no occupation in Gaza since 2006.
Over 70% of Palestinians support what Hamas did in October 7th.
Israel is still providing of clean water and electricity to Gaza.
The Palestinians agenda was never two states solution. When Israel established it was after a war they started on Israel.
Go learn history.

Such and idiot. So many wrong assumptions. Tom this is a joke. I don’t think you would interview someone that attacks the British military during WW2. Israel is fighting for their life against barbarism.

Hey Tom I have been watching most of your interviews for a while now and I admire the intelligence, the depth and moral direction you always portray. This is an overdue episode. I am still in the first few minutes but I had to drop this comment, hoping you actually read comments. I am Lebanese, and I have been away from your podcast for a couple of months as I was kind of disappointed that you kept bringing themes away from what is happening in this part of the world, as it does represent a reflection, a very very scary one, on where humanity is going. It is not ai, it is not the economy, it is not lack of resources that will lead to humanity destruction; it is in fact the normalisation of atrocious cruelties, the abomination of actual human values. The "probable" (need to keep space for a tiny light of hope) future of humanity terrfies me.
I will watch this episode and then might share my opinion❤

The bottom line is that nobody in the Middle East wants the Iranian proxies in their country.the Palestinians brought this on themselves. The more devout the religious belief the greater is the death and destruction in that arena. Demonstrably Jerusalem

Well done Tom for having Omar on your show. Finally a large American podcast is bringing in a voice of facts. As a person watching America from the outside, it's insane to witness how the illegal occupation of Palestine by a genocidal settler colonial identity is justified and fully supported there. Truly well done.

Without conversation about America doesn't want to end wars, Ukraine doesn't want to end the war, maniacs lunatic nataniahy doesn't want to end the war conversation isn't complete no relevant.
The Trio of America, Ukraine, and Israel don't ever want to end any war.

Make no mistake folks, this is not just Israeli war crimes it’s American war crimes, British war crimes, French war crimes, German war crimes. Either they are complicit or directly funding Israel to continue Gaza massacre.
I’m utterly disgusted and ashamed that “our government” is funding a GENOCIDE.
They don’t represent us🙅🏽♀️
@Con_founded
March 13, 2025 at 4:10 am
There are other people who suffered genocide and persecution for millenia – armenians, kurds, tibetans, uighurs and so on. Kurds were used for repelling ISIS and dumped! So, there definitely is an israeli exceptionalism that's fuelling all this. Netanyahu holds bi partisan sway in a way that'll make any lobby in the USA envious. Iraq was invaded with every evidence pointing to no WMD, because of netanyahu assuring the american govt – "If we take out saddam, the region will become peaceful". Spoken like a hit man and that's exactly what he is..no different from Putin.
