OPERATION: MINDCRIME 3 🤦‍♂️ new KING DIAMOND, JUDAS PRIEST, AILD, BURNING WITCHES & more| Metal News

Metal Pilgrim | April 5, 2026

Ex Queensryche vocalist Geoff Tate announces Operation: Mindcrime 3, a continuation of the legendary 1988 Operation: Mindcrime album, while Queensryche plan to release their own new album in 2025. Meanwhile King Diamond’s new album is set to be released in late 2025.

Sleep Token perform with half of the band being replaced by backing tracks, and their fans simply love it. And Judas Priest go absolutely insane with their 2025 live tour Shield of Pain, which is set to celebration the 35th Anniversary of the legendary Painkiller album.

As I Lay Dying and more specifically Tim Lambesis has got to be kidding us. Delain return with a new EP Dance With the devil and join us for an interview.

"That's the plan" – key words from the Diamond camp. That's been the plan for some time now. But let's be real people, do we really think if/when it comes out, that it's going to be great???? I have little expectations myself. If it's even close to Puppet Master, it will be a huge accomplishment.

Took my 15 yr old son to his first concert…King Diamond & Overkill. He was drooling to King & I blew out my voice screaming to Sleepless Nights & Halloween! New songs were awesome live! I believe a new KD album will come out in 2025. The man…the band were SO tight & stage production was top notch! Something to remember besides music.

Seeing the King next week so I'm hyped for that. But the longer it takes for this next album to drop, is making me worried that its going to over polished and end up being his Chinese Democracy.

Operation Mindcrime… one of the greatest concept albums ever recorded for Rock, and tied with the Wall for my personal favorite. Mindcrime II was hot trash. Sadly, at least for me, Queensryche and Tate both have produced a pretty long line of "hi hum" since maybe Empire.

I actually enjoyed Mindcrime II for what it was. Nikki's story is over. The influence of Dr. X on the masses is something that could still be explored as the movement lives on after Nikki's involvement. If Tate can manage to take it is a different direction with a new protagonist I would be interested. It is just a damn shame that Dio has left us and cannot reprise the role of Dr. X. I still have faith in Tate to stick the landing.

Queensryche cannot do anything with operation mindcrime only Geoff Tate. It was stated in their settlement that he owns all rights to operation mindcrime and everything that is related to it.

    King Diamond 🖤
    Burning Witches, Seven Kindoms ❤
New Judas Priest- I can take it or leave it

Queensryche- yeah someone above aptly said Geoff is a nut- I still listen to the early stuff from time to time

Tim L – I wouldn't want anything to do with him either.. he hired someone to kill his wife

Delain-; saw them in Louisville with Sonata Arctica several years ago, Charlotte is a sweetheart

Geoff's voice can't handle an early QR style album. He can barely hit those high notes anymore that so characterized early QR. Happens to most screamers voices. I might believe it if was being done with QR's replacement singer.
