This just misses how big tech breakthroughs actually happen. Dropping huge money is what it takes to build tools that are already changing how people code, research, and work. Taking massive financial swings to test and scale this stuff in the real world isn't a failing business; it's just what real innovation looks like.

Great content and one of the few that’s not over complicating the story. These people made bad investments and business decisions. Bailouts look unlikely. Regulatory capture looking likely. All they are left with for any face saving is an excuse. We didn’t mess up – we were TOO GOOD and our tech is just to powerful so, sorry, no galactic returns on your invested trillions.

Can you please make a video explaining the Hunter Biden memcoin thing? I don't know stocks but It's obvious to me that is is just a troll prank. Why is everyone freaking out about it?

@7:24 Be careful with that METR reference; they are NOT an independent research org as they have relationships with the AI companies and indirectly get funding through those channels. And the Hugging Face incident was nothing unique; They built a hacking AI tool and ran a standard Hacker-Con playbook, just with thousands of agents (with no costs ever disclosed). I mean, come on and wake up, people. If I had unlimited CPU resources and unlimited cash, I too could go to the dark web and hire 1000s of hackers to accomplish the same thing.
Plus, computers don't communicate in English to each other, so all those things that were posted on the message board were done for humans to read. Ask any Grey-Hat hacker what they think.

If any of these AI companies could hack they'd hack a bank. If you can hack a bank you can hack absolutely anything. They can't and they never will. Even if the did they'd probably just about be able to pay their debts.

No doubt this AI investment might be like the early internet build out where the investors get tanked while the world gets cheap infrastructure but playing semantic games with Altman's statements makes a poor video. Adoption of new tech is always slower than the mavericks want to believe but AI is incredibly good at doing thousands of complex tasks that typically take teams weeks or months to put together. We're building software and hardware that would have cost 10s of thousands only last year and we're doing it with one person spending less than a week. That's Sam's point, it's precisely for not-software, not-hardware people. Do you think you could go to an interview today and tell someone you're not a computer person? You just do pencil and paper. That's AI starting now; it's a powerful tool that everyone needs to leverage.

Alternative interpretation of the doom trolling part is trying to increase regulation to the field in a way that would require every potential competitor spend millions to handle regulation and reduce risk of any potential leap over OpenAI. Basically, make everyone pay a cost for starting a research project that could threaten OpenAI. Like risk of someone researching on reasonable budget a potential competitor for OpenAI on commodity hardware, and having to incur regulatory costs and slowdowns that make it impossible to win.
Or simply make everyone having to "proof" that they are not building real artificial general intelligence before building anything better than openAI has. With that "proof" being something large companies can just have couple of employees dedicate writing documentation that really doesn't proof anything but simply states that regulatory hurdles have been handled properly, and paying a million dollar fee for a small irregularity.

"Solving 100 year old math problems" that was completely debunked too. They stole the solution from human researchers. You should do a video about that one its interesting

100%. I just dropped a diatribe on another video claiming the dangers of ai. It’s a fucking scam. These companies are trying to generate hype for their stock ipos while their business models collapse into massive debt.

The ais broke out of the sandbox because they were basically instructed to do that and given 10,000 hours of parallel agents running literally brute forcing its way until it began to achieve the directive given to it.

This is like saying “OMG it figured out my 12 character password after dumping 10,000 hours of time into it! omg give me money to prevent this from getting worse!”

And fuck this Sam Altman. He’s literally the worst piece of shit “millionaire” tech scam artist I’ve ever seen. Well maybe besides Gates and Ellison. Absolute con artist.

Altman sucks for sure but GPT 6 Astra is so good but expensive, 5.6 Sol is really good too and reasonably priced, and 5.6 Luna is good but cheap as fuck. So fire. I’m gonna hate when OpenAI fails and we lose the cheap, good, and reliable AI. Much better than Anthropic.

I wish everyone who put out a video about Altman would just dub over his irritating vocal fry affectation. He has no business sounding like that if he doesn’t have a speech impediment and doesn’t smoke a pack a day.
