Todd in the Shadows | August 4, 2026

Tarzan the ape man inspired one of the weirdest hits of the ’80s, but was there more behind the band who made it?

Italo disco is fire, Baltimora was fire, Tarzan Boy is fire, 80s were fire and the music video is fire. I don’t like how much the dude is hating on truly good stuff in this video.

Enjoyed learning about this random song and the artist behind it, disappointed by no mentions of how my generation knows this song: as Jungle Boy Jack Perry's theme in All Elite Wrestling… scratch that my generation doesn't have a lick of common culture.

pardon me, but the filmation series was great! anyhow, i recently discovered the studio version of tarzan boy with the dancing animals, and i wonder what the winged monster with horns is supposed to be: a pterodactil?

Love your channel Todd, been bingeing it.

Growing up in the 80’s in Chicago Italo Disco was huge in the clubs and on certain radio stations that would play mixes from the hottest Dj’s at the time on the weekends, namely the hot mix 5, 83’ and 84’ peak yrs for Italo disco in Chicago and NY

I am a Canadian born in 1994 and my association with this song comes from visiting my American ex-boyfriend in Florida and hearing this played at the Orlando City Soccer game in 2015.

3:30 Fun Fact : In 1983. Frank Farian released special album "Mad – For Dancin' – 28 Superhits Nonstop" have a single "The Bushman" and have a guy wearing Moon Mask portrayed as The Bushman.

This guy is 18 years old Robert Pilatus who later well known as one-half of Milli Vanilli.

Im old. I was 14 in 1985 standing outside the local youth disco waiting to get in. It was in the coldest of swedish winter and I had for the first time just finished 4 strong beers. I was freezing my ass off and when I finally was let inside the indoor heat struck me at the same time this song started playing. It is so engraved into my body that if it would be played at my funeral my corpse would start twitching.

6:00 You know I have never been to Baltimore and never had any interest or at least have no memory. Been close enough to it though since I’ve been to both D.C. and Philadelphia since my cousins lived around both areas.

I was at a dance party a couple weeks back doing italo house disco and this song came on and I swear everyone LIT UP, it just FEELS big and happy on the dance floor, I first heard it as a needle drop in Becoming A God in Central Florida where it's used for a dude joyously quitting his job and it's perfect
