6:05 Liking the original Star Wars in 77 wasn’t geeky. Everyone loved it. The stereotype of geekiness really came in the late 80s after the series was over and folks that were still really into it.

From what I remember it was literally a hit because we bought everything Star Wars we could lay our hands on back then and he beat the release of the original soundtrack. We bought it because it was the only version of the theme that was available at the time. Had he released it after the original soundtrack's release he wouldn't have sold anything.
I remember friends buying the single to have 'something' Star Wars, but we all kinda hated it because of the disco beat.
He just got really, really, really, really lucky that he got to satisfy an absurd lust for all things Star Wars when very little of it was actually available yet.

The prequels broke your hearts? I just watched Star Wars for the first time in 2020 as late 30 something. I have now seen the first six. The prequels are hands down better than the original three.

I find it funny that Todd laments the prequels at the start of this video, but then goes on to parody a line from The Phantom Menace at 8:08. What could you even parody from the sequels that wouldn't be lost on everybody?

Man, I was in a good mood, but then the intro for that video just hurt me so much. Reminded me of a time when I actually had hope and love for Star Wars as a franchise. Curse you Mickey

Star Wars was HUGE at the time. I remember when this record was out. Star Wars was mainstream. Not just geeks. Although I’m a geek, and loved Star Wars back then. Definitely a phenomenon.
