Pretty sure I commented this at some point, but this is actually the 2nd track off the album, if you listen to the first track ''on the run'' then listen to this, it seems to go together. Now it's never been confirmed that the events described in On the Run is a precursor to the events of How Bizarre, but…..I've always seen it that way. This song is clearly about police brutality. I don't really understand how it's not obvious to you. The chorus ''everytime I look around it's in my face'', is the cops, always stopping and harrassing them.

Apropos of nothing but when I was working at the home office of a huge US retailer, one of the VPs of my department was a dance instructor on the side, was apparently pro before going into business. Sheβs also from New Zealand, but was pretty strait-laced.
So you can imagine how fucking exciting a day it was when we all find out that our no nonsense VP, everyoneβs bossβs boss, is one of the backing dancers for this video! How bizarre indeed

The "it" being in the face is racism. The "how bizarre" is an ironic observation about it being ever present.

Best comp for How Bizarre in the Late 90s is Len βSteal My Sunshineβ and anything from
Sugar Ray.

So strange… fo some reason, In my memories, this song came out in 1993-1994, when I was in High School. I could swear I remember listening to this in the car i had at that time… maybe a demo leaked and I had that… I dunno?…

Β΄ITΒ΄ is racism. Specifically police racial profiling.

"How Bizarre" breaks the fourth wall. If you want to know the rest of the story, you have to "buy the rights," leaving it ambiguous.
Also, the picture of Allan Jannson is actually the acupuncturist and not the music producer of the same name. Can you blame Todd in the Shadows for not finding any available photos of the guy, at least at the time?

I cannot think of a song I hate worse than this. I have not watched this episode yet, so I am hoping that you savagely critique it as sometimes you do Todd. Love your channel man!

The song "on the run" got a lot of Airplay in Belgium and was way better.

I just realized I thought this was Sugar Ray, now Iβm not sure what Sugar Rays hit was.
