Genuinely think why Carti works for young people is Carti is being unapologetically good at catching a certain vibe. He isn’t tryna give a complex idea or show technically great instrumentals. Hes literally just making something that sounds good. That’s kinda it.

Gen Z at this point already knows the world is fucked. We understand our systems are failing us, at this point all we need is escape not a reminder our systems are broken. Which a lot of older rap explored and taught.

It’s almost like listening to music in another language. You don’t even know that they saying it’s just sooo hard 🔥 You’d probably like the songs he made with Kendrick

Mars volta "frances the mute" is a really great album… Some of those riffs are too tight. At the drive in is good af too. You can trace that sound back to the 90s band drive like jehus "yank crime" – a true masterpiece in my opinion.

Sig, I'm not sure if you'll see this but I'd love to see you talk about the soundcloud wave circa 2015-19. I feel like thats one of the most creative and fun era's in hiphop and I don't think I've seen much content where you've spoke about it more than a passing reference.

Playboy Carti is just good music, life is shit it’s been bad forever, so why do we need to remind ourselves of that, instead just listen to something that sounds good with synths and 808s, not having to recognize the shittiness of the world, there’s music for everything music to talk about the shittiness exist and should exist but Carti just isn’t that

Im 50 years old and Irish and I can understand his flows. He rides the beat virtuosically , the complexity of his syncopations is confusing to you because you lack musicality, nuance, taste and inaight.

Ah my favorite YouTube genre… Millennials trying to understand Gen Z and coming to the conclusion that you all have no one to blame but yourselves for why we are. Still love y'all tho

I been listening to Carti since brokeboi. I’m in Atlanta and we’ve been vibing w him since he was street level I can’t say he’s anti music, he just creates his own lane over and over. If everybody is doing one thing he’s guaranteed to do another. That’s honestly why I like him he refuses to be put in a box and that’s why his fandom is so die hard.
