But should we rush to create an intergalactic battle plan? In actuality, finding otherworldly life won’t be so easy (or, hopefully, so dangerous). Already, astronomers and other scientists are using a multitude of techniques to search for planets outside our solar system and any signs of life they carry. With 4,500 exoplanets identified out of what could be hundreds of billions in our galaxy alone, one thing is becoming clear: If we find extraterrestrial life, it likely won’t be anything like Hollywood has imagined.
Hearing from two exoplanet experts about the diversity of planets and life in the Milky Way, Dr. Alok Patel learns that Earth is incredibly unique—and surprisingly mundane.

Why does she firmly believe we are going to wipe ourselves out, even though she is very positive regarding life’s ability to adapt and grow. I believe we will overcome our technological shortcomings and decarbonize and save ourselves and the planet. There is always hope.

I'm 71 years old, so I have been witness to huge technological breakthroughs during my lifetime, but receiving an indisputable radio signal from extraterrestrials whether from a planet, or better yet, a spaceship would blow the rest of our accomplishments out of the water. I have no doubt there are other technologically advanced civilizations out there – it would be a terrible waste of space if there wasn't.

Apparently there are more stars in the known universe than there are grains of sand on earth. No doubt there is intelligent life out there although at astronomical distances which very likely means that No Contact
