Nish Kumar | Dinosaurs Before the Meteor | Mike Birbiglia’s Working It Out
British comedian Nish Kumar returns to the podcast to discuss the humbling nature of stand-up comedy, lessons learned from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and more. Nish explains the concept of his new tour, “Angry Humour From a Really Nice Guy,” and how he finds the comedy within his pessimistic views about humanity. Plus, Mike and Nish discuss different kinds of heckling, and why Nish’s voice caused an audience member’s Apple watch to call an ambulance.

I feel annoyed that Melbourne has erased Adelaide Fringe from public consciousness. The OG Aussie Fringe festival and the second-largest in the world!! It deserves some respect!!

I saw Nish don't kill my vibe at Viccar Street in Dublin, and he blew my face off. The sheer hilarious laughs per minute working with deeply politically important issues… one of the most impressive comedians ever.
So I brought a group to see it again in Boston. Incredible.

I did a sightseeing trip to Edinburgh before I really knew what the fringe was and it was in the middle of the fringe and the tattoo and 1. I probably paid way too much for my hotel room and 2. The throng of humans on the royal mile, half of which are trying to handout flyers for their shows, made it SO HARD to get from point a to pint b. Wish I’d known and had time to see some shows.

I love Nish’s podcast with Coco Kahn. It’s such a great and funny insight into UK politics.

I would really like to comment on this vaginal HRT commercial I'm being shown…
But this is the only forum I'm being given. "i know enough to be dangerous" isn't generally an endorsement?

Unfortunately Nish is just rewriting "don't look up.". Fortunately that movie was bad and Nish would make this bit legitimately hilarious.

When was this recorded?
I'm not sure how I just stumbled on it…. I guess I assumed it had been during this don't kill my vibe but…. Okay it was a few days after the geese show at Hammersmith Apollo… I guess I didn't realize Nish touring here then.
Also… There is no labeling one of you Larry David and the other one Kramer…. And there is an obscene amount of Acaster available on social media… So…idk what Nish is on about here…

I absolutely love Nish, I think he is funny and smart and almost always right. But I do keep having to check if my player is set to 1.5 speed when he talks. It's uncanny how much he sounds like he's talking at 1.5x speed! 🙂

Oh Nish my young man, the NYT is a FAR cry from the Guardian. The Guardian is more like The Nation, The Village Voice, and The New Yorker rolled into one.

I absolutely loved Nish on Taskmaster. "Piss and shit!" became part of my vocabulary because of him.

It's delicious when a joke blows my mind. That's a high worth chasing, a catharsis worth experiencing. I appreciate someone challenging my beliefs.

Ooh, it could be fun to connect the "seriousness of Nish's 'for you' page'" story to the "Nish's parents can't take him seriously because he shit in their hand" bit, with the through line being why Nish subconsciously needs to be taken seriously now, as evidenced by his algorithm, which clearly knows him better than his parents do.
Also, I love Nish and am so happy to see him working more in the US!

I really like Nish. First saw him on QI and loved him. I have since seen him on many other British panel shows, where he is always a delight. But he has also done the US version of HIGNFY and was as charming and funny as usual.
