It’s a fine album, but not necessarily better than later albums like Wild Is the Wind or I Put a Spell on You.

Nina did it her way and took no lessons from the mainstream female jazz singers of the era. A wonderful and unique talent. It's a shame that many people only know her for the couple of minor chart hits that she had later on. Her deeper talent was in the blues ballads and when she leaned into black politics and polemic. It was powerful stuff. Thanks Barry.

Nina Simone is still the benchmark for female musicians/singer /songwriters.

She's a class act and that is a wonderful record. Little Girl Blue is just mesmerising and the "plinky" "plonkey" My Baby Just Cares For Me will get even the most hardened grump singing along
