I saw Weird Al when I was in high school and it was fantastic, can't speak for if he's still got the same level of energy but he's for sure still got the charisma. YouTube also recently showed me a video of him singing a straight non-comedic cover of Killing in the Name which certainly feels like an indication of the moment we're living in.

With you on Jeff Buckley. He was obviously a talented artist and pretty much everyone I know worships, but I just never got into his music. It does create awkward moments socially. 😆

Apropos of nothing, but wifey and I are spending the weekend at a cool little hotel over in Fishtown and, hand to god, just heard the Free Bird Truck go by.

I love Pat, but one thing that bothers me about him is how he never gives artists credit for being creative and original, yet he'll praise artists for using the most basic campfire chords that every guitarist on earth has used millions of times.

Sure, "Enemy" by Days Of The New is a bit goofy with the excessive "yeahs" and electronics, but the guitar playing is undeniably brilliant, especially in the outro on the studio version. Who else but Travis Meeks thinks to tune down the bottom five strings to open F#minor, and the top string to Bb, then write a complex song that doesn't even utilize the full open F#minor except for some harmonics in the outro solo? Brilliant.

I had to play drums (Orlando girls rock camp) on a cover of Talk by Beabadoobee. It sounds exactly like something else, but I can't figure it out. I thought maybe Breeders?

not everyone who listens to mr bungle is one of Those Guys and not all the Those Guys listen to mr bungle but man that's a heavy overlap

mr bungle are like the five finger death punch of music. like it's not all the fans, but.. you know, it's a lot

I recently listened to Grace for the first time ever, after seeing that album cover my entire life.

I was fully expecting to like it and kick myself for never giving it a chance. But honestly, it just kept losing my interest. Thanks Pat, I needed to know I'm not alone.

i never cared much for belle and sebastian either, which was especially tough considering i was going to university in glasgow. everyone was into them.
i was dragged along to see them a couple times, they were okay i guess.
