NFTs are still a thing, apparently. So should we buy them in 2026?
A few years after the NFT boom, we check in on the market to see what happened to Bored Ape Yacht Club, CryptoPunks, Beeple’s $69 million NFT, and the people who bought them.

Are NFTs actually worth anything now? Can you still make money with NFTs? And most importantly, are NFT bros doing okay?

NFTs were only really good for the people who first sold them to an idiotic rich kid.
But then again there are real life "NFTs" that people do actually want, like original animation cells. But then again, those are a lot less fungible and a lot more tangible

I think the base idea of NFTs wasn't even bad. Being able to sell artwork ownership digitally sounds fine in concept…..
I practice it meant that people build picrew type generators and pumped out hundreds of images of characters without any artistic intent that they then sold.

The guy who bought the Beeple NFT has reasons to be happy.
He's a billionaire. He bought the NFT to generate hype for his own crypto so he could dump it. And he managed to do so.
    To him it's mission accomplished.

I'd rather battle a sea witch than deal with doctors. … For future reference, read Extraordinary Popular Delusions and The Madness of Crowds by Charles Mackay. It's an old book that many investors have profited from over the years, unlike those that bought NFTs.

NFTs still have value in their original purpose which was just to create a way to verify who actually made something on the internet where anyone can post anything from any website to any other website and pretend they created it.
The creators of the technology weren't trying to make links to a picture that sell for millions of dollars, they were just trying to make a mark of ownership that can't be faked.
The usefulness of an NFT is miniscule to anyone other than actual artists and the insane prices were only rhe result of the greater fool theory, which is basically that its foolish to buy this at this price, but I'm sure theres some greater fool who's willing to pay more for it.
Its the exact same thing that drove up the price of pokemon cards, but even then the actual use case of the cards is the game you can play with them, not just having a mark that proves you own the card.

NFT was the first attempt to make artists jobless,
making dumb-looking art that most of this people made them selves and putting an unbelievable price tag on it.
Now, with billionaires funding generative AI, they’ve surely done the job.

They really hate Artists huh? 😅

2:36 The one almost-positive thing I have to say about these NFTs is: at least they were made by human hands with real digital tools, not generated by AI.

Each terrible looking asset of that stupid shark was made by a human hand using photoshop or some other painting/photo editing program, then an algorithm combined them together in such a way that every version would have a unique, unrepeated combination of those assets.

That's still incredibly lazy BUT AT LEAST a human being actually drew all the parts the artwork is made of.

Imagine how much worse NFTs would've been if AI had been as powerful back then as it is now.

2:02 Video failed from the start… Get your google searcher dude to return your money
I'm not against making fun of cryptobros for being stupid, but you can't just fail in from the definition of the thing you are talking about
