New PBS Documentary Explores Indigenous Perspective on American Revolution

PBS’s six-part series The American Revolution premieres November 16. Yankton Dakota author and Professor of History at Harvard University Phil Deloria shares how the series will highlight the Revolution’s impact on Indigenous nations.

    I have read Phil’s father’s book “God Is Red”. It is good to hear the Phil Deloria was an advisor to the documentary. He is right to point out that Native lands and the avarice of the colonists had a significant part in the revolution.

    The truth: Colonial American vs British Royal Control (tax etc etc we don't like being despised) = get freedom = in the process, under cover of brutal war, destroy the native presence eastern woodlands to open land for colonial settlement. It worked very well. We needed the excuse to do what we did because it will enter the history books. It has to be justifiable, so …

    So greatful for indigenous perspectives..most important…greed not only tried to aniilate indigenous peoples they stole and sold slaves to build on Indian land…so very disturbing but TRUTH will be exposed eventually…

    PC BS is what it is. Want to get a good history of the Revolution for starting to learn about the real Revolution, read Robert Middlekauff's THE GLORIOUS CAUSE because you don't get it from this "documentary."

    want to get astounded indigenously further?
    look up portage county, the ohio historical society
    the powatami (pls excuse spelling), told they were moving to kansas, travelled there themselves, returned and said we don t want to leave ohio….
    here comes the u s army
    there s arrowheads in our garden
    time , yes, to be mindful, very mindful. we are to be ushered off next

    America's twin founding sins–Indian ethnic cleansing and attempted genocide, and slavery. Without either one, there would not be a United States of America. I don't know how we ever get over that, and obviously we haven't really wanted to, or tried, so far.
