Why nes roms? Arcade versions are 99% of the time the better versions of the games.
@NathanJohnson-r2k

They keep packaging the NES version. If they’re gonna short-change us outta the arcade rom, they might as well give us the ColecoVision version of the game since it was more accurate

Great review, very much enjoying your coverage of this series of pocket games 😊 since you’re into “guys tied to a chair” games now, I’d suggest trying Questprobe #1: The Hulk ™ by Adventure International. Scott Adams wrote some great text adventures back in the day, and in this you start the game as Bruce Banner tied to a chair…also worth trying just for its incredible overuse of ™ EVERY SINGLE TIME it mentions the Hulk…

Ask MyArcade what happened to the "Super Retro Champ" , was interested in that future clone console , was supposed to play SNES & Sega Genesis physical carts , was hoping it be a replacement for my crappy clone console , that barely plays those 2 console correctly

SSDD. Along with the same PS5 commercial every two minutes.

But of all the licensing companies, why Data East? I've always found them to be mediocre at best. Why not Jaleco, Konami, Sunsoft, Acclaim, Tradewest, etc?

With so many choices how do you decide which tiny screwdriver to use?

Those bonus games sure are a choice to have without some kind of manual.

Data East doesn't appeal to everyone but they sure have some great titles on these little handhelds.

RE: Nightshade… You gotta back up to the candle and let it burn through the ropes holding you to the chair. It's an adventure game, like Maniac Mansion! It just has a weird, somewhat nasty sense of humor.

This isn’t bad at all. It is what it is. Something you can carry in your pocket and get your fix wherever you are. I like that they included a screwdriver for the batteries. Very thoughtful, however instructions would be more thoughtful. Great video!

Why haven't you reviewed the Pacman 45th anniversary myarcade unit?

26:09 “games are supposed to be fun, not work.” You actually said this AFTER complaining about not knowing how to play a game about being employed as a secretary answering phones. 🧐
Nice video, as usual, but I got that damn PlayStation bundle ad 6 or 7 friggin’ times! They damn well better give you some kinda something for spamming your viewers like that!

The background noise or 'hum' you hear is not simply distortion or random noise imho. It sounds to me like sustained notes from earlier sound FX and/or music that should already have been cleared. In the first examples (with the pause button activated) you can clearly hear that the background noise harmonically matches the arpeggiated chords of the sound effects that played right before the pause button was pressed. It's like a reverb that somehow refuses to fade out.
It seems like the duration of these sustained notes is just too long, as if they are waiting for a 'note off' command that never arrives. My guess is that this is an emulation artifact/bug in the software, not necessarily a hardware problem.

it's OKAY. i feel like i already have all of these games between the Data East Super Pocket and Atari Gamestation Go. i guess there's a niche market for it. MyArcade seems to be milking these licenses, and i'm not sure how many of them people will actually play. maybe they release all these devices for Jon to review and entertain us!

Not for me as I don't like Minecraft jaggies in physical form, also a nitpick but buttons should be round. I think the D-pad could be 10-15% larger to fit an adult thumb better.
A mostly solid group of NES DE ports but I still think a cheap arcade hardware approximation isn't cost prohibitive anymore in 2025. Again Karate Champ was a twin-stick game so the one-stick NES port was terrible and inauthentic Ie. don't bother with that one guys.
The PIKO side is an interesting roster but quite random Eg. Bad Street Brawler… a Power Pad title.🤨 Nice to see Nightshade get another form of publishing but not a good fit for fast casual play. I kind of like homebrew showing up in such devices with Zooming Secretary as nostalgia doesn't have to be the only focus.

The fact I can emulate these NES games better an endless number of ways to Sunday, then yeah I'm gonna have to pass, but if you like it cool, it's just not for me.

My Arcade feels like a hit-and-miss type company these days. Their hits are from releasing "officially licensed" titles, and their misses are when they rely on NES roms and/or if the licensed games sound off compared to how they did originally. One can only wonder what's really going on with them…

They are creating that nostalgic circuit hum for the current generation similar to the nostalgic Vectrex hum for Gen-Xers😊

Zooming Secretary is fun just go to the file cabinet that matches the image above the phone.
