The Atari Gamestation Go has only been on the market for a few weeks, but manufacturer, My Arcade, is already rolling out its first firmware update chocked full of improvements large and small.

🚨 NOTE 🚨 UPDATED 9:50pm Eastern 11/5/25
• Viewers are understandably excited to get their hands on v1.1, and I've received word that it has started rolling out this morning.
• 24 hours later as many of you have not yet received the 1.1 update. I am in touch with My Arcade. The intent was for all serial numbers to be eligible for the update by early this morning, but something may not have been properly triggered in their system. I will continue to provide updates here as I have them.
• Just got word from My Arcade. They report that the 1.1 update should now be live and available for all retail Gamestation Go units. Give it a try and let me know your results.

I can't yet seem to find any reliable info on what's been fixed/changed in the new 1.2 firmware. Do you have any intel on that, or plan on covering it?

you need to make a custom firmware video John. It adds button mapping and more emulation support and more trackball support

I'd like to point out that I have contacted My Arcade directly several times for a variety of their products. They have typically been responsive. Not so this time. I explained the bugs I am experiencing and asked about the potential for an update to fix these issues. No response. I would have appreciated such clear communication of the problems were I the manufacturer. Their silent disinterest prevents me from buying controllers for the GSG, or even THINKING about the Gamestation Mega. I register my products, so they know I have been a loyal customer. Disappointing.

We are well overdue for an update to the GSG. My Arcade wants to sell us other, similar devices? That starts with supporting the GSG. NGL, feel a little misled that this was a 9 out of 10 device at pre-order when I'm having a 6 out of 10 experience months after launch. Update 1.2 could potentially remedy many issues. When do we get it?

Attention my arcade: you know who I am and I am no longer recommending your system until all the bugs are fixed this should have never been released with the recharge games broken they are terribly slow and boring centipede Missile Command All Games should have trackball old and new, they cut off mid-game, looks horrible on the TV, I really hope you have not abandoned this unit ,,,,I'll give it another month if there's no update we're returning ours and there's many of us!!! Cannot believe this unit was launched with all these bugs and I didn't even list them all!👎👎👎👎👎

I bought the Game Station Go via eBay, it will arrive at the end of February. I live in the Netherlands, but unfortunately it is not available there yet, so I am looking into importing it.

I hope they release firmware 1.2 that fixes the HDMI issues. Many games are unplayable because of the frame skipping and the sound distorts. They should of never released this with the HDMI broken like this, imho.

The firmware update removed ability to play certain emulators and roms sadly and you can't roll this back if you get it.

WARNING: When updating the Atari GSG, make sure you remove the micro SD card from the unit before upgrading. Upgrading while the SD card is in can corrupt the ROMs making them screwy & unplayable. Luckily i found out about this before I upgraded.

One worrying thing is with 1.1 they dropped PS1, N64 and Dreamcast support, and Would I be correct in saying also Neogeo pocket? So in the future it is possible could stop other games supported on the SD card, but at the same time would most likely sell far less or not at all if that happened. Would have been great if they had the history of the Atari games, like the 50th Anniversay edition on PS5 and Xbox as well as pC

Question before I upgrade: I know that N64, PSX and DC emulation will be omitted and the GBA emulation will be watered down when I upgrade, but does it improve the side loading emulation of the other systems? (SNES, Genesis, Arcade, NES etc.?) if so, I’m willing to upgrade because there are a few SNES games that I like that are choppy or just plain funky. (Eg. Street Combat for SNES is super zoomed in for what reason IDK and Super Bases Loaded 1 & 3 are choppy) I’m a bit concerned about GBA being watered down but I really couldn’t care less about N64, PSX and DC emulation. Does updating improve the side loader emulation or just the internal included stuff? I just need to know, thanks. (Yes I know you can’t rollback firmware on this thing.)

You may only get one more firmware update as My Arcade gives very poor support. The Gamestation pro only got 2 updates and never received anymore, so don't this will get good support

Just allow me to use the numberpad on intellivision and colecovision games and the other controls with mame games and I will have to buy another one for backup.

I hope this continues to get FW updates longer than the Gamestation Pro did. I had hopes for that, but the product was essentially abandoned by them.

Question: With my GSG fully charged, if I leave it off for over a week, why does the battery become drained and it won't turn on until after I plug it in for charging?

When is the next update Jon? Still lots of bugs and also would like to see more games added to the recharge list as well as that fixed you can't access menu the recharge games are boring and they quit on you mid game, I hope they didn't abandon this unit

Hey Jon, yeah recharged games still cut out after long play and most of them very slow and boring, like Centipede and Missile Command very slow and need more action, any news on a fix/update? This is so disappointing!

So strange…It's 12/07 and it still won't update. Still says 'Try again after the network is stable' but my network is working perfectly. Oh well…1.0 it is.
