In today’s episode of Impact Theory, I’m joined again by Jocko Willink to discuss the complexities of modern warfare, leadership, and the influence of social media on public opinion.

Jocko Willink is a retired Navy Seal, globally recognized leadership expert and author of one of the most empowering books ever, “Extreme Ownership”. In today’s discussion he details his leadership principles and explains how to apply them. He also talks about building relationships and trust, understanding human nature, and learning to control your ego and emotions.

We also cover:
– Foreign interventions
– Applying military strategies to business decisions
– Active listening and bridging gaps between opposing views
– Dynamics of power
– Power of memeable concepts and commitment to change
– Importance of maintaining one’s freedom in the face of tyranny
– Social media’s role in triggering emotional responses
– Self-reliance and the American spirit
– Role of leadership in guiding public opinion and avoiding manipulation
– Avoiding the “mob mentality” to effectively guide

– The intrinsic human desire for freedom and control

From discussing the pitfalls and emotional manipulation prevalent on social media to the strategies behind psychological warfare and the current geopolitical landscape, Jocko does not shy away from addressing the pressing issues of our time.

This conversation on building resilience, strategic thinking over emotional reactions, and the enduring power of freedom is sure to shift how you view the world and your role within it. Remember, in a world where chaos reigns, it’s your clarity and your mission that makes the difference.

Powerful Insights From Jocko Willink:

“I think right now, what we need is someone that’s less polarizing and has a more open mind and is more concerned about, or looking more to find solutions and compromise and figure out how to make things work, rather than, hey, here’s what the party that put me in this position wants to have happen. And…what that results in is oftentimes nothing happening.”

“Come up with a flexible plan and you start to move in that direction and then you iterate and make changes to the plan as you get closer. But you’re still sticking within the principles that you believe and still going towards the end state that you’re trying to reach. That’s what a leader should be doing and that’s what leaders should be doing.”

“They can suppress, they can suppress the instinct for freedom that human beings have for a certain period of time. But I don’t believe that they can actually extinguish the flame of freedom.”

“I’m going to make small decisions, and I’m going to continually assess, and that’s what I’m doing all the time. And that’s what a good leader does is look and make small adjustments and pay attention to the feedback.”

I wonder if you all find it very interesting that the people that would be very well suited to be the president of the United States and that are very popular for all the right reasons and would be easily chosen to be the president of the United States none of those people ever really want to be president of the United States and no one ever asks that question

Trump is NOT a strong person.

He is a very WEAK individual which he demonstrates by his thin skinned and corrupted behaviour, lashing out, bullying and pitting against each othet & backstabbing people in his team.

From all the people I would have expected Jocko to push back on this bullshit. By his very own principles a strong leader builds relationships and influence (by allowing others to influence), builds trust in his subordinates by having their backs and letting them make plans and decisions.

President felon does none of it and it's why he can't keep a team together.

It would be funny if it wasn't so absurdly wrong how they frame the democrats as not listening to the other side because they fucking did that many times as proven by many bipartisan bills on issues like the border which Trump tried to block to exploit it in the election!

Most American's are unable to grasp complex problems and solutions. This is why they got what they deserve and made a felon their leader.

This is painful to listen to.

The problem with politics nowadays is one side doesn't care about facts, rules and laws and make shit up as they wish.

Voters are incapable of thinking for themselves and think logically. They just chose the camp that triggers their fears most and facts & laws don't matter!!

Brashness, bullying and abuse are not leadership qualities. Normalizing and sanitizing those pathologies does not lead to progress but to regress. Given the abusive history and flawed foundations of this country and your exercise of normalizing Trump's behavior, argue from his target's perspective….Blacks, Mexicans and Muslims in general, Central Park Five, Ruby Freeman, E. Jean Carroll, Jessica Leeds, Jill Harth, Natasha Stoynoff, Summer Zervos, Temple Taggart McDowell, Colin Kaepernick, Christine Blasey Ford, all immigrants of color, bankrupted service providers to Trump's companies, defrauded participants in Trump university, airline, foundation, steaks, etc., etc., etc. You don't negotiate with terrorists. When Trump tells or shows you who he is, believe him. Make him the posterboy for the abused if anything but not PRESIDENT or you will be fiddl'n away as the Titanic sinks/Rome burns (even though it may go down in spite of who gets elected).

Jocko is not the first person to figure out what is missing and what is wrong. My question is you are not addressing the big truth issue. The elites, secret society who will shut you down no matter how correct your ideas are. People are killed in masses because of our (USA) nasty secret. We have a small percentage of people who buy people out to keep their agenda going. If you go against the agenda, you are killed. Period Joe was bought. Trump defies their agenda. You can't have a discussion with people who support the elite society. They own everything. That is the whole problem. Jocko is discussing a situation that involves like minded people. That's what you find within military. The society of people who want to control the population, are not like minded.

I wonder how this talk would have changed after July 13, 2024…

29:26 It seems like one party is an existential threat. I’ll remind everyone, one political party in recent years has been imprisoning people in the opposing party. They have launched multiple illegitimate lawsuits to engage in lawfare against the opposing party instead of letting the political process play out. We are closer to the breaking point than ever before. At the end of it all, framing the person who believes in individual freedom, something Hitler never did, as a fascist has led to an attempt to eliminate the opposing party’s candidate.

This particular party holds the responsibility for utilizing FISA via a false dossier, thereby launching a full fledged investigation against this political rival in the previous election.

If I didn’t know any better, I’d say this is banana republic garbage which shouldn’t happen in the USA. I think I know why there was an attempt on Trump’s life. I’m just waiting for my fellow citizens to wake up and realize we’re losing our country while we tell our soldiers they’re “defending freedom” by joining the military and fighting wars abroad.

I am appalled. I believe in duty and responsibility and would’ve joined the military myself. I woke up to the actual war on freedom being waged by the Democrats, and some Republicans.

So many important things you can learn from him. He's the kind of man that I feel I agree with everything he says, probably because he's studied his stuff very well

The whole idea of two parties is so flawed. How will there ever be a united America if one half hates the other half. If one half will never agree with the other half? Imagine no parties Americans were just that, Americans. That's the dream.

Incredible how Kennedy is pretty close to what Jocko describes, changes his mind with new info, is focused on solutions to issues, and is only polarizing because the MSM villainizes him

If Jocko Willink decided to third party write-in, his character and leadership qualities would win over the majority of voters. Moreso if the ticket included John Stewart. These are individuals that pulled us into their character through unique concepts like radical accountability and perpetual honesty. I wouldn't even consider a write-in campaign a bet. Critically thinking leadership is what the people of this country are desirous of (generally speaking).

Hey Jocko I have a question. So I see you have this supplement what's your name on it if one of your milliliters is like 7500 how does the inflation over into iron affected

Think you’re more right Tom about the Anti-American rhetoric being way more a threat than Jocko is willing to admit. Way too positive in a time where things are collapsing. Huge Jocko fan but his optimism is maybe a tad displaced

I was a marine in 2020 and the way they handled Covid and the aftermath was dehumanizing. The citadel was horrible. They literally had to put up fencing on the 2nd and 3rd story’s because a kid jumped and it was only 2 weeks. Don’t get me wrong that was a little extreme but they literally only let me out of my room 1 hour a day and all I had was a Bible and the marine corps guide book. They were throwing our letters to our family away and they said it was because it was hazardous material. I didn’t even test positive and they kept me for an extra 10 days just because I did 3 weeks in solitary confinement and then went straight to boot camp. I like to think I’m a strong minded person but it made me so angry and on top of the brainwashing in boot camp I was pretty fucked up mentally until about this past year. I’m still very angry but mostly about the suicides in my unit. They really treat you like shit when hit the fleet. They were asked why they were hazing us and some shitbag ass lance corporal said it’s because they “felt like we didn’t respect them”. The officers were all talk and the staff ncos encouraged it.

I disagree about his whole "When you see a dead marine" speech. He wants to shut down the discussion with "they do evil things, they killed one of our own, no further discussion needed." I want to ask questions: Why was the marine there in the first place? They do evil thing, ok. But you just want to go in guns blazing? If we rly want to do this through force, we should do it with hard evidence, unite as many nations as possible. I don't see why America needs to go solo Rambo everywhere dragging NATO countries in

Dementia expresses itself with a variety of different behaviors in individuals but there is no variety that you can be afflicted with which allows anyone to give the state of the union. You can't 'jack" up something that is not there. Joe does not have dementia, but Joe is in decline. He looks frail, he shuffles instead of walks etc., but it takes a lot energy to do things on the fly, physically hard to find and say words fast enough to do press conferences and to try to answer questions shouted at him by reporters after a speech while trying to maneuver his frail body by shuffling over to stage RT, or was it stage left…Hey…Obama, where the fuck is the exit? I am reasonably confident that Joe would be just fine formulating strategy with his staff or whatever. Bottom line is Biden is old, but he is not nuts. My dad told me " don't ever get old" back when I was 17-18 and he was 56-57 years old. My dad died in 1976 at 69 yrs old, and now I am 78…and for sometime now I have known that he was correct in his assessment . Anyway Trump vs Biden ??? What is important for the good of the country and to enable all of us to get the goosebumps you get from the pride you finally get to feel when you think about the future of the good old USA. The old guy kinda scares me in a way, and is otherwise uninspiring. The clown makes me laugh, and that feels better, but I don't want a clown for president either. Lucky for us , or maybe divine intervention and therefore just in time: we clearly have the best possible man for the job in the person of Robert F Kennedy Jr. The anti-vax conspiracy nut that you and I heard about. I saw and listened to him for some reason when he was interviewed by Jordan Peterson and in spite of his impaired raspy voice I realized in short order that I wanted to hear every raspy word he said and 2hrs just blew by . The next day YT took down the video; I still don't know why but I came to learn that MSM (not fox) was clearly smearing him whenever they had to mention him and as their fear of him grew they got the late night shills to throw an occasional jab, censored and on and on and now excluded from the debate by getting rid of the people who made the rules in previous debates and CNN the reds and the blues now made the rules to the exclusion of all others. If you don't want to vote for RFK: I would predict you have not heard that much about him, or you have heard about him, but you haven't heard it from that raspy voice of his, which if you are shallow enough you can say that is why you won't vote for him. If you have listened to him tell you who he is, not from campaign adds or speeches, but from 2+ hr interviews any of them then I would predict that you will be inspired as an American and you will at the same time realize who all the people are, people that you trusted that were giving you bad intel or flat out lying to you.
