Native Film Talk podcast Ep 56: Rez Dogs Season 2 – Episode 1 & 2

Alrighty! We’re back with the Rez Dogs takeover! Episodes 1 and 2 of Season 2 are essentially one long episode so I decided to combine them!
We’re back with Bear, Elora, Cheese, and Willie Jack as they try to reverse curses, make it back to town, get a job, and try to not be a shitass in life. They get second, sometimes third chances, because there is good in them that needs room to flourish.
I loved this season and am excited to talk more about the amazing things that were done in season 2 of Rez Dogs.

Hi Ian, glad to have you back and to have you review this season. Also glad to finally see Reservation Dogs S2. Here in the Netherlands, Disney+ finally uploaded the second season yesterday, although I had seen some bits and pieces online. I especially got Disney+ last autumn for Reservation Dogs. So I spend yesterday evening binge watching six episodes. It feels a bit like homecoming and I like it. Can't wait for the review of the other episodes.👍

I missed you doing this for the second season.
Made the first season better bc kinda got explanations of stuff i didn't understand.
Keep up the good work. I really like you playing the parts of the show to give context of what ur about to get into. Great addition.
My only issue with this season was the.. idk how to explain in film terms. But I'll try to explain.
First season, the energy was at a 8. This season the energy was at a 5 for most of the season.
Which isn't necessarily bad. It was just kinda my expectation going in that we're gonna get more of the first season. So took me a few episodes to settle in.
Going along with that.. i also felt like the first season was comedy first and the drama was used to ground everything and keep shit in perspective.
Second season felt like drama first.. and comedy was mainly used to give us a break from all the drama.
But even with that said i still loved the 2nd season and can't wait for the 3rd.
What i love most about the show.. even tho I'm black, nothing native about me.. it still gives me that feeling of watching wonder years or Malcolm in the middle for the first time as a kid. Where even tho the ppl don't look like me the day to day stuff hits home bc honestly we're all mostly the same.
This show is gonna be one of those things when I'm 50 and feeling nostalgic I'm gonna turn this on and feel like a young man again just for a moment while I'm engrossed in the show.
It's the only native media I've came across that wasn't violence based (longmire, Yellowstone, red road) since fuckin buffalo dreams on Disney channel.
