Terrible band live, hasnt done an interesting work since 1994, no loss here, at all. It was probably the worst live concert I've seen since they came to my country, cold, stiff and very bad sound. Everything I've attended to after was upwards in every regard, so, who cares about the flagship metal band of the tv news anyway. The good stuff it will always be there and for once, the records are where is at, unlike most good bands. Thanks for the good music, I want my ticket refund!

World needs a hero was the only crap album. The rest was at least solid. Dystopia, System Has failed or Sick were so good. It doesn't need to be mentioned about Rust or Youthanasia.

Dave will be 64 next month. That’s about the time most people retire or take emeritus positions in the US, even now. It seems like a reasonable decision. Especially for someone who has to perform in front of others. If anything, they should keep recording in the studio and stop touring.

Never could take megadeth serious with those pathetic vocals, after all these years if your band is still a secondary act opening for five finger death punch,it’s definitely time to quit

Up to now, I feel like Rush is the only one who truly did it right. If Megadeth does hang it up and this last album is strong, they'll be the 2nd band that did it right.

I honestly don’t see DM being on top in his life right now — taking into consideration his musicianship, that is. Perhaps in other areas, fine, I wouldn’t know. But to the Megadeth fans, music matters the most (I’ve been a fan since 1988), and in this department, well. The point is arguable, to say the least. Vocally, I believe, he delivered the performance of his career on The World Needs a Hero. Musically, since the 2004 b(r)and reactivation, it’s been hit and miss. So to me this line feels forced.

Rush quit over Neil Peart’s health issues. Pink Floyd ended over David Gilmour’s decision to raise his family with Polly Samson and also a rumored heart condition and Rick Wright’s death was the final nail in the coffin for the band. Roger Waters lip syncs and his popularity has waned

I thought the most recent Megadeth album The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead! was pretty good though my expectations were fairly low for it. I'll check out the final album for sure. I've seen Megadeth live 3 times over the years. Most recent time was on The World Needs A Hero Tour in 2001 so it's been awhile. I'd go and see them live on their final tour but I'm not gonna break the bank so to speak to get tickets.

I don't know why so many people are doubting this is actually the final.
Could they reunite for smaller tours later? Sure, but Dave just beat cancer. How many albums and world tours can you expect?

My favourite band outside metal/heavy rock, R.E.M., quit on a high over a decade ago – it is possible to just walk off into the sunset.
Megadeth are one of my favourite metal bands and I'll take Dave Mustaine's word on this.
Look forward to the album and hope to catch them on tour!

I’m going to see them in Amsterdam in October , Megadeth are my favourite band. Also got tickets for Glasgow Scotland , even though they are supporting Disturbed I still have to see them . I think you will enjoy the farewell tour Pete 😊

Slayer retired, came back for random live performances 5 years later, managed to pull off their biggest ever UK headline show in front of 40 odd thousand people. The last time I saw them in the mid 90s they didn't quite sell out a 2000 seat venue. Point being, the retirememt created the demand. I'm sure other bands of a similar vintage have taken notes.
