Pantera without the Abbott brothers? No.
Van Halen, the band, without Eddie? No.
Cool discussion, though, Pete. I really like your conversations with Martin. Always something to learn! Super cool. Kudos to both.

I know many won't agree, but I personally think mastodon might be al right with this. From what I understand Brent hasn't really been that involved with the music in recent years. Now you could say that that lack of involvement coincides with a downturn in teh band's music and I'd understand but I think maybe without his influence in teh band they can really get t together with some new blood. It's very different from some of these desperate situations bandsa re in with strugglign to keep original members etc.

Foghat, Molly Hatchet
Riot, Nazareth need to go
Even Judas Priest only has Halford and Hill( who's never been a great bassist) Should be careful

Steve Lukather said he will not play a single note on a VH record.

while i think its very strange to have Pantera without the Abbott brothers, they definitely wouldn't have done this without the blessing of the family of Dime and Vinny, this is probably the best way to go if there's gonna be a new version of Pantera out there

The thing about having Charlie in the Pantera mix…he'a an awesome songwriter. I'm not sure a lot of people realize that. He's the main music writer in Anthrax.

Going thru the van Halen unreleased music sounds like it might rival the Jimi Hendrix vault products. The search for the mythical 4th album he didn't finish. The vh version is somehow more complicated.

Great job guys… Agreed Pete, Beat show (saw them in Rochester, NY) was superb… New music would be fantastic… I agree Martin, the heck with the Sabbath concert, just put out a new album!!!!!!!

If the posthumous Van Halen album is more of what could have been a solo venture for Eddie, that would be commendable. I imagine Al would sooner reach out to Roth.

its interesting how commercials and movies of today continue to go back to rock and pop music of the 60's 70's 80's as their backround music…..you dont hear music of the last 20 years….does that mean anything?

I don’t know why this is surprising , the old r&b doo wop groups have been doing this same exact thing for decades, the coasters, the drifters, the temptations

Alcatrazz is recording a new album with Giles Lavery on the mic. I guess technically not any different than when they had Doogie White, but White had the same connection as Graham Bonnet to Rainbow and MSG – and Yngwie. Felt part of the same family. So you have Jimmy Waldo and Gary Shea left of the original members, and Shea has been absent for much of the touring. I really do like the last couple albums and hope I'll like the new one as well, but the authenticity is dwindling.

This is the second video where Pete keeps referring to the Sabbath concert as July 15 when it's actually July 5. Martin didn't correct him this time.

Generally, the front man is the band (Queen, Motörhead, etc) but sometimes the soul of the band is whoever the leader is, either the lyricist or main songwriter. It really depends on a case by case basis. That said, “Doing the right thing” and Sharon Osbourne do not belong in the same sentence. If anything, Tony Iommi is the heart and soul of Black Sabbath, and should be celebrated as such.

Take about ill informed in terms of The Sweet or Sweet.
The only consistent Sweet has been the Sweet which has been based in the UK from the start.
Andy Scott has never stepped away from the original line up or the UK.
Priest did that.
Why don't you interview Andy Scott and stop talking shite!
Another badly informed educated duo on the screen on Sweet.
Sweet (original from UK) is currently on a world tour.
Yeah, you heard.
With all shows from Perth to Brisbane sold out in OZ.
Not to mention Germany, USA etc etc
So kiss my tush mush!
Plus the new album is a ripper!
'Full Circle' is all killer no filler.
And the best album since 'Level Headed.'
So double kiss my tush!!
Talk about misinformed and badly educated on this subject!
