Sometimes, we forget
that we are all Human Beings
not just this tribe or that race
so, sometimes, we eat each other.
and we forget how much it hurts other people
, like it hurts us, and we don't like that.
Sometimes we forget
that we don't own everything
that the Land has a spirit of its own
and so do all the things that live on it
and, sometimes, we forget that we are a part of that Spirit too.
Sometimes we remember
that we have a full belly
and think we need a shiny new car and a Gameboy and a phone
that does a million things
and we only watch cat videos on it
and we forget what those things cost
and who we have to eat to pay for them.
Sometimes we forget
to look up from those phones
at all the beauty and the danger all around us
and we get run over by a speeding Moose
trying to tell us to wake up
this world is the only real thing we have
and we forget how complex it all is.
Sometimes we forget.
Shame on us.
