As a lesbian this was the first time I really got to see what a loving gay family was like for the fist time because of Cam and Mitch, they gave me so much hope even though it was just a tv show

I have been growing up with internet, youtube from the very start of my teenage yrs and from where I am India ,here it's still very conservative in tier 2,3 cities.
But because I used to watch YouTube and western content,shows, movies it was very natural to me gay marriage as a normal marriage .

Yeah, the people screaming gay folks live in sin also back a religion responsible for genocides and enslavement. Comparatively, consenting adults in a loving relationship seems pretty tame.

Genuinely with this show and long talks with my Christian mum she came around to gay marriage- though they weren’t against gay couples, they just thought they should have civil partnerships (The UK alternative to marriage which has been legal for gay couples for decades.)
My mum identified A lot with Cam
She was a lay minister who had blessed civil partnerships, but this show definitely normalised it. We watched this show a lot together and the gay wedding made me cry. I came out not long after. She accepted me fully, after researching ❤

1. the writers wanted to depict a gay couple.
2.they were afraid that americans will think it's lgbt propaganda and thus regect it
3. So to avoid that they carefully crafted the story to manipulate the audience to accept the gay couple.

The way you've explained it this thing is the greatest and most successful piece of gay propaganda ever. I love that.

Maybe, in he end, the defiing characteristic of propaganda as opposed to political outreach is whether you agree with it.

12:52 “We sneak in people’s rooms and before we know it they love us” That’s really funny because when I first started watching the show I initially wanted to watch it with my then husband but he was homophobic and thus very adamant about not wanting to watch it himself so I was like “OK whatever I’ll just watch it by myself”. I put it on started watching and shortly in he just came in and started watching it too, and then I don’t remember him ever saying anything about it after that and we just kept watching it together. I still don’t know why he suddenly changed his mind.
