I disagree with you on the Metallica issue. Ever since the Russia's full scale invasion on Ukraine I've been involved in voluntary work to help the Ukrainian victims of the attack. Over the years I've witnessed the power of the Russian propaganda machine in turning people's support against Ukraine. Most people are still supporting Ukraine, but It's still horrifying to see how successful that campaign of lies was and how much it impacted the public opinion. I'm Polish living near the eastern border, so the war in Ukraine is something very close to me. But in Palestine (let's not pretend that his words were not in relation to that) there live people like us, who are suffering unimaginable horrors, who are not supported by basically anyone. It's Israel that is financed and supported by the western world. Hetfield is a citizen of a country that directly finances one of the most horrific crimes against humanity in known history, and that's how he sees it? Pathetic and disgusting. Especially considering that Metallica was in it's past VERY political (so people saying that it's what Metallica is all about can fuck right off).
It's not about preference nor a matter of opinion. It's people's lives for crying out loud. We're talking about a damn genocide. We're talking about real people being killed, starved, injured and displaced. I'm disgusted that just because it's far away so many people are fine just giving it a pass. Being against genocide is not a "controversial take", it's a bare minimum to be above human trash. Even if they financially suffered because of the Israel lobby in the US they would still be very rich, safe and comfortable. The fact that they don't have the spine to take a stand against even such a horrific atrocity makes me sick. To Metallica I will say the same thing I said about Roger Waters and other anti-Ukrainian genocide supporters – F*CK you and shame on you!

The right are such snowflakes. They can't handle anyone's opinion if they disagree with them. I'll never tell kid rock or anyone on the right to shut up. They have the right to say whatever stupid thing they want and they do all the time.

If we all recall back in 2020 I believe, Lars said that if Trump won that election he would not give up his danish citizenship, which I felt was a strong message. I truly think that James is the only maga member in the band, but I am not canceling or protesting because he didn’t say anything bad, but just said it in the wrong way. I don’t mind bands or singers giving their opinions as I think we should all know them at this point. My big issue is that when I see concert footage of someone supporting Trump, people don’t get up and walk out, but when someone comes out against Trump, it’s all out war. If maga is that sensitive then just stick to country music.

Also Trump is telling Ukraine that they no longer matter and that pisses me off.

No one in their right mind wants to hear entertainers spew their political views.

Hetfield is a hypocrite. Telling that Metallica is all about love and heavy music, but on the other hand doing the opposite……. talking about other bands and judging them of what they are doing.

Not being political is NOT TO SAY anything. Like Bruce said during the Maiden shows, "Let's enjoy the show and forget all the shit that is happening around us at the moment".
What james said was clearly political, by saying he is not political. They deserve cancelation, and they will be cancelled. It was about time, since that band is a piece of crap. Their last decent album came out in 91; let that sink in.

Any band or artist can as political as they want to, be my guest., But the moment they announce their support for Russia against Ukraine or Hamas/Palestine/whatever against Israel, I'm done with them.

Noone forced Metallica to talk about politics. But if they showed outright support to Ukraine, they should've talked about the ongoing genocide in Palestine too. And even if they chose not talking about it, they didn't have to attack the people who did. That's the problem.

Hetfield is SPOT ON and true Metallica fans agree. The band doesn't want people to pay hundreds of dollars and drive hours to hear them play their music only to stop the music to force the ticket payers to listen to their BS.
