Metallica Just Did Something NOBODY Has Seen Before

Rock Feed | October 2, 2026

Metallica opened their Life Burns Faster residency at Sphere in Las Vegas, becoming the first metal band ever to play the venue.

The show opened with Battery as the 16K screen flipped to show the crowd looking back at itself. Metallica at the Sphere grew from 8 shows to 24 running into March, inside the $2.3 billion Las Vegas venue with 167,000 speaker drivers.

Nowadays people just go to concerts to take videos and post them on instagram so they can show off that they spend 700 to 1500 dlls, people that know nothing about rock and metal bands. I'm grateful to have seen a lot of bands in their prime for less than 70 dlls. and 5 feet of front row.

This is a hard pass for me, but I understand that there will be always rich people, or just plain stupid people, that are willing to pay those prices and even more. Give something back to the fans? No, those rich bastards always need more from you.

The show was unbelievable, great sound quality, it felt like a private concert compared to seeing them at stadiums.I payed 1400$ for two tickets in section 104. I wish I would've bought the travel package before general sale which included floor seats to both shows and 3 nights at the venetian for 1000$(very reasonable prices)The day of the show tickets were selling for 400-700$ on stub hub. Yes they are more expensive than the typical stadium show but you dont need to spend thousands on a single ticket.

People need to understand, the promoter and the venue owner control the ticket prices. The only way the performer can dictate ticket prices is to play smaller venues where the promoter & owner are more flexible. But this will also piss off the fans due to the smaller venue having fewer seats and a much faster sellout. Sure, the band could play 10 shows at the smaller venue so fans can actually get tickets, but that is just ridiculous. Sad to say, the days of cheap tickets for major acts are over.

Saw them back a few months ago Playing Hampden Park, Glasgow, Scotland. ONE of the best gigs i've ever been to. The first time I saw them was back in 95' where they saved the Donington Monsters Of Rock festival from being cancelled that year, that was special. Anyway, they are still really great live, even if they are in the 60's. Catch them before the eventually call it a day.
