In retrospect, the mere thought of Link being compared to Mario is laughable, but the amount of people downplaying Mario to a "fat italian plumber" and coming to the conclusion that Link would stomp is diabolical. We're talking about a plumber who can knock down meteors, fight in the pull of a black hole, lift castles, deliver devastating blows with enough power to shake galaxies, fight against universe level beings and more.
Needless to say Link stands ZERO chance of even scratching Mario from this information. If anything, a better matchup for Link should be Pit from Kid Icarus.

This comment section is full of people who underestimate Mario. Giant Mario is invincible as well as golden Tanooki suit. If Link SOMEHOW kills Mario, then 1-up mushroom exists. Plus, Link only kills Ganondorf who is NOWHERE near being quarter the strength of Bowser, who survived supernovas and black holes and pulls islands to the mainland.
Star Fox is better for Link while Samus is better for Mario.

Depends which link we are talking about, it it is Wind Waker Link then Mario wins hands down no question. If it is OoT, Link TP Link or BotW Link then Link wins, those three Links are extremely smart and strategic fighters, they have defeated monsters that make any Mario villain look weak in comparison.
TP Link has many gadgets and items like the double clawshot, the Boomerang of Winds, the Ball and Chain, the bow and arrow with the Hawkeye, the Dominion Rod, the all powerful bottle explosive arrows and bombs and aside from that he has the master sword whuch can shoot energy beams and the indestructible Hylian shield… pretty sure any of those three Links would destroy Mario

I think both are equally matched. Mario has a larger arsenal of weapons, is faster, and can jump higher. Link is stronger, taller, and has more magic.
