I don't like ranking things. Everything in our society is comparing things to each other, award shows, popularity contests, jerking each other off, not everything has to be a competition. How did the art speak to you? What message(s) did you get from it? How did it make you feel? What themes did you get from them? What does the art say about the human condition, society, and what needs to be done (if anything) to change it for the better?
Finding out what someone "likes" over something else doesn't tell me anything. Do you like vanilla ice cream over chocolate? What about mint chocolate? Like .. I dunno. Whatever.

I'd suggest that they started with their best work then continued to slide into a fucking great big pile of shite each release after that.

We are identical with our ratings. This is exactly where I would put all the albums. If anything I might drop OAUG 1 down to great. But yeah. Nice job. Used to be a huge Manson fan but have kinda moved on from him for the most part as I have gotten older. But it's cool to hear his new stuff and see how others react to it.

Listening to it now. I feel like seeing all those early records in perfection or fantastic encapsulates my issue with Manson since Golden Age. None of it lives up to those records and I feel he settled into a predictable and kind of low energy sound.

yeah to me manson really fell off around holy wood /golden age of grotesque. he’s 90s albums were amazing to me mainly because how different each album in subject matter, the bands image and sound was so different from each other. like portrait was about the american nuclear family and how disturbed it is under the fake facade it hides under, smells like children was about abuse and loss of innocence (it was originally suppose to be a thematic album but was censored by the record company) antichrist superstar was a like a industrial metal opera exposing the fascism of christianity and how religion is used in america, mechanical animals was like a david bowie/ pink floyd the wall album mainly talking about how americans are being dumbed down and turned into hollow dopamine addicts by mass media. but by the time you get to holy wood and golden of grotesque he really started to change into this kinda corny mall goth popstar. like a he had a few songs mentioning the columbine shootings but you can tell that was when his music shifted and became all about himself and his boring angsty romantic life. every album he’s made since then tbh are really all interchangeable, it’s just all solipsisms about himself and his emotions, very stale and boring compared to what he covered before.

With the new album, I really enjoy it. The only one I don't really care for, but isn't horrible, is None Of The Suns, but the rest of it is amazing. I don't think it's quite as good as chapter 1 though.

Remind me why I should care about him after he got rid of all the good band members 20 years ago?

Saw Manson in 2009. He was one of the worse live acts I have ever seen. And I've seen latter day Motley Crue.

We Are Chaos in my eyes is a masterpiece. Some of his best work
@Mau13-m7q
August 15, 2026 at 5:32 am
Eat Me, Drink Me is way too low and Golden Age of Grotesque and Pale Emperor are too high. I liked Golden Age back when it first came out but now a lot of it sounds kind of cheesy.
@mysteryroach42
August 15, 2026 at 5:32 am
Personally I would put his first three albums in the top tier, his next three in the second tier, and the rest… somewhere.

Absolutely love seeing Born Villain get some love, I always feel like I'm one of the only people that actually like that one lol

August 15, 2026 at 5:32 am
The trilogy will always be top.
High end of low its good….if you eliminate 3-4 songs that you like the least. Born villain is criminaly underrated. Eat me its garbage. Chapter 2, i was expecting at least 4 heavy songs, too slow. I preffer the first chapter.
@derekmecca

I would bump we are chaos into “fantastic” to replace Pale Emperor and spread the other post-trilogy albums between good and okay. The reason I love We Are Chaos is the same reason Mechanical Animals is my favorite MM album – I used to love how he wasn’t afraid to reinvent his sound. When Mechanical came out it got a lot of flak from the Antichrist fans and then the only time Manson truly pushed his boundaries again and took risks was We Are Chaos. I commend him for it. Antichrist, Mechanical, Holy Wood, Golden Age and We Are Choas are all such very distinct sounds on their own. The rest of his albums are just him trying to chase the same persona remixed in different ways with attempts at clever lyrics that he lost his skill with probably due to the drugs. I still hope that he can surprise us again.

try that new Raunchy album!

August 15, 2026 at 5:32 am
Antichrist could have been trimmed a bit too. Same as holy wood
@rosetoyseller
August 15, 2026 at 5:32 am
HUD above WAC is abysmal take. HUD is just what people think what kind of music MM is making. Edgy, lackluster lyrics, cringe, horrible. WAC is a bit bit boring but at least it was mature and introspective.
@Blodild
August 15, 2026 at 5:32 am
I can't believe you've put We Are Chaos at the bottom. I loved that album. It was the first Manson Album that grabbed my attention in decades. I loved it! I'm loving his new ones, too. I'd have put every album after Holywood at the bottom. There are songs here and there that I liked but not one of those albums did it for me.
@PavelGaborik
August 15, 2026 at 5:32 am
Was expecting a lot heavier, I wish it was more diverse.
I think it's overall just ok….I would have enjoyed it more if the singles didn't have me anticipating something more energetic and heavier.

Honestly "high end of low" is one of my favorites it got me though a lot of bad times. It's the one I'm going to get him to sign when I meet him next week

WE ARE CHAOS is honestly better than the most recent 2 in my opinion

August 15, 2026 at 5:32 am
Marilyn Manson only got 2 albums worth my times. American Family and Antichrist. I try to listen to every album he releases to see if there is some new magic but it never hits me like Antichrist did. It is one of my top albums of all time.

I loved this album!!! Your first 3 tiers are pretty spot on for me.
@jayseabie215
August 15, 2026 at 5:32 am
Totally agree with the 2 worst, EMDM & WAC are total bore fests. Pretty much agree with your top 6 also, but I would have put OAUG Ch.1 up there too as it's a real return to form, conversely OAUG Ch.2 is a real let down for me and would have only made 'Good'. Maybe it will grow on me.

Fun question! If you made singular album from Assassination what would the track order be?
@sammitchell3657
August 15, 2026 at 5:32 am
I agree with the OKAY tier for sure. EMDM was only listenable for the guitar. Imo. Tim Skold's guitar work and solos were epic. The rest was boring asf. We are choas was well..chaos.

August 15, 2026 at 5:32 am
Chápter 2, music wise was a lil bit of dissapointment for me. Tho I commend Manson for always, somehow turning something new and unecpected.
However, I feel lyrically he's finally back at it. It had been more than a decade since Manson delivered a thematically consistent álbum, conceptually strong and lyrics wich not only rhyme and present intsresting methaphors, images and ideas, but that genuinely have great statements behind them.
A wounded Manson is an inspired Manson. Just wished the music was as inspired, I think the Bates collaboration has given out all of his juice and feels a bit repetitive at this point. Manson needs to find his own personal sound
