Indian Country Today’s daily newscast
On this edition of the ICT Newscast, it’s Women’s History month and one Native artist mixes culture and contemporary art. The 96th Academy Awards showcases Indigenous talent like never before. Lily Gladstone came shy of winning an Oscar for her role in Killers of the Flower Moon, and Osage singers take to the stage.

Blackfeet actress Lily Gladstone’s historic award season comes to an end with a disappointing showing at this year’s 96th Academy Awards. Gladstone’s loss of the highly coveted Oscar for Best Actress to “Poor Things” lead Emma Stone came as a shock to the Native community. However, Gladstone’s nomination is still a first Native Women in that category.

The “Killers of the Flower Moon” star officially broke her silence on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday stating, “Feeling the love big time today, especially from Indian Country, Kittō”kuniikaakomimmō”po’waw — seriously, I love you all.”

In Oklahoma, the Osage Casino was buzzing with excitement as the community threw an Oscars watch party to root for this year’s Native nominees. ICT’s Paris Wise reports.

March is Women’s History month and one Sicangu Lakota artist uses her work to illuminate the enduring strength, presence and influence of Indigenous artistic practices within contemporary art. ICT’s Shirley Sneve interviews Dyani White Hawk.

In Washington, a dedication ceremony took place for Native veterans and revealed new Navajo-class Navy ships named in their honor. Aliyah Chavez interviews Minnesota Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan on the topic.

After watching "Poor Things" I came out thinking it was a soft porno film. So much sex and a story line about a naive woman
trying to figure out what life was all about. It seems she assumed sex was a key to unraveling Guam behavior.
To say the least, it was a strange, weird movie. Critics loved it but I found it without merit, to put it mildly. I walked out
    after one hour.
