That whole calling an album a "mixtape" reminded me of Doechii's album alligator bites never heal. People called that a mixtape 🤣

I'm with him on this… A mix tape is a blend (or at least a quick cut with some DJ tricks).

I also feel what he's saying about making music as opposed to making beats. I was thinking in terms of jazz music (think Miles Davis "Doo-Bop") and having instruments playing over the beat. You also have folks like DJ Shadow making songs… Not beats.

New setup is great, the only advice I can give is to add lighting behind you, so foreground is more separated from the background. It’s a bit flat at the moment.

The new set is dope! …and DJ Green Lantern is a legend and I'm still to this day tryna figure out where he got his old SFX from. We didn't get a lot of mixtapes in Europe back in the 2000s, especially in Croatia where I'm from, but one day, the guy from the CD store gave me (i was a kid back then, it was in '03 I think) a promo copy of the Shady Invasion Mixtape-CD, a limited version with 8 tracks on it. The cover features a photo of Em under a guillotine, and the CD has a monochrome print of a cassette tape. Still have it my collection

I'm from Chicago and an old school House Music DJ and for us mixtapes were us DJs recording a live mix from our bedroom or basement. One take but as time went on we could edit on a 4 track Tascam or something. Hip Hop though when we think of mixtapes it's just what Green Lantern said… like a practice rough version of hip hop tracks that may come out on a future album but kinda leaked. It would be cool if you could do some history or breakdown of Chicago House Music. Samples and stuff. I like your Daft Punk pieces. They got their sound from Chicago and took it to the next level and perfected it amazingly into their own sound but it originated here. Thanks!!

I appreciate the open approach of laying out your definitions, and adding on that you know there's room for other definitions under that umbrella.
Dude makes art and isn't about to tell others that they're making art wrong.
    Great attitude.
