i liked this video. anyway i wanna critique what i've seen of this movie here. long comment don't bother reading.

the entire movie feels like disparate parts left lying around a room. the characters are incomplete.

take pete davidson. whether you like him or not, we learned things about his character literally just from his acting. he didn't have to turn and bonk his head on the door – we learned from that that he reflexively makes bad jokes and then immediately regrets them. that's not in the dialogue – it's told entirely in his body language. we don't get that from other characters. they all just stare emptily while deflated punchlines roll across the room like cans of ravioli.

the character introductions should have implications for the character in the movie. so mgk pissed his pants and that guy gave him his shorts. is he empathetic and charitable throughout the movie? no. that one guy leans back when he's high. is he leaning on something in every scene? no. all the characters have the same two personalities. also there should be one final character intro where mgk is too high to remember who they are.

mgk is trying to play batman. why batman? what's he been doing to prepare for the role? can he not periodically say things dramatically like he's trying to be batman and all the other characters give him unconstructive feedback?

apple is a waste of a character. it COULD have been funny that she's the kind of person who would mistake a handshake for cheating. his friends could all be baffled that he's with her because she's so uptight. one could be feebly trying to break them up throughout the movie but mgk's too high to pick up on it. when he's trying to make up with her, she could say something totally fuckass like "this is worse than when i caught you paying that HOOKER!" and he's like "babe that was the cashier! it was mcdonald's!" ha ha.

he could have done more than literally one thing with the glove compartment moment. they could have talked about where she got the gloves, or thrown in some physical comedy.

there could have been clown car amounts of gloves – he keeps digging and can't seem to get them all out of the way. there could have been different KINDS of gloves. one could have been one of those huge mickey mouse gloves. he could have gotten pissed off trying to get through the gloves and started angrily throwing them around. he could have thought he found the charger but it's immediately buried by a cave-in of gloves.

he could have found one (1) mitten. she has no idea how it got there. she snatches this away and throws it out the window. it lands on the windshield of a passing car and we hear the car crash and people screaming off screen, but mgk's too high to notice.

there could have been a callback to this character later. at the party he finds a lone glove on the floor. he picks it up, stands slowly, and says in his dramatic batman voice, "[that character's name]," right before she's revealed standing behind him.

when megan fox's house is ruined, why does she book a hotel room rather than ask mgk if she can move back in? why couldn't it at least have been somewhere quirky like a really bad airbnb? it could be barry's airbnb. he's just been repeatedly renting an airbnb because he got evicted from his apartment for silly reasons.

my point is that there are just a lot of missed opportunities for jokes here. whether these are funny jokes or not is neither here nor there – this movie isn't just bad because it's not funny, it's also bad because it's as empty as rice gum's house.

but let's be clear – the jokes aren't funny or executed well at all.

megan fox makes that huge joint. it's visually lame and not funny.

cut out the harry potter jokes. they're not funny and i'm sick of hearing about harry potter.

not included in this video is a scene where mgk's about to break into apple's house. he says, "i'm not breaking into my girlfriend's house!" smash cut to him climbing in the window. he says to himself, "i can't believe i'm breaking into my girlfriend's house!"

that's not funny. cut that out.

fucking up all the urns wasn't funny. replacing the ashes with weed ashes wasn't funny – and it doesn't make sense. did the ashes disappear when the urns fell? just sweep up the ashes.

smoking enough to fill an entire shelf of urns with ashes in one sitting would probably leave them so stoned they wouldn't be able to move, or else they'd stay stoned after this scene ends. also weed fucking reeks. she would notice grandma's urn and the entire house smell like burnt weed.

and i wouldn't care about this shit if it was funny. it's just not a funny enough concept to look past the logical inconsistencies.

i like the idea of the ending. it's sort of an anti-joke. we thought we were building up to something but instead we get this non sequitur. i don't think it was executed well, though.

i think it could be funny if the movie ends with an anti-weed message. idk. something. literally anything.

they should cut out at least half these characters. and half the scenes. this would have fared better as a youtube skit than a movie.

He wants to make a movie about himself, promote his music, and show range in talent, but if he’s the wealthy character he’s supposed to be, his problems are just solved by flashing cash. I sing, write, and play guitar, and never once have I wanted to jam my own songs. I'll play them, I'll do a show, but having your song playing at a party you're at OR A MOVIE YOUR IN, is just peak asshat behavior and require such a bloated ego that you don't even recognize your own ridiculousness lol
