My fiancés uncle died from liver cirrhosis. It was SO sad. He drank so damn much to the point where he literally couldn’t anymore and then he just wasted away. He didn’t even look like himself at the end, it was a closed casket funeral. He suffered so much loss in his life.

Alcohol almost killed me. Ill be 6 years sober in July.. Please, if you're trying to quit, keep trying. It's a lifestlye adjustment but its worth it.

As someone who had MAJOR demons to reconcile… Demons that could be harnessed and rode with heroin. Heroin is crime, leads to crime and is not sustainable. From experience no matter how deep and how ugly the past, it CAN be reconciled and days can start new with better choices and an opportunity to live again.

Imagine being that much of a beta to be a man crying about "going back to this" as if you have no say in your own life. And before you assume yes I used to drink every day non-stop for years. Ya know how I quit? I stopped drinking alcohol….. imagine that.

I feel awful for these people. I haven't even watched 5 minutes yet. I was never an alcoholic but I used to do a whole lot of partying for most of my life. Im 42 now and now that everyone I used to hang out with all got married or had kids, nobody goes out anymore. I haven't drank any alcohol in a couple years at least, and I haven't been drunk in at least 5 years now. I don't miss it at all. The hangovers were SO bad toward the end. I would have the most crippling anxiety and by the end of it, alcohol prevented me from sleeping (as opposed to passing out drunk). I remember the times I was in Las Vegas we would drink all day and night at pool parties and nightclubs and by the end of the trip I was withdrawing. I would sweat in my sleep and I remember just shaking on the plane ride home. I will never drink alcohol again.

My best friend died in 2013 at 31 from acute liver failure brought on by extreme alcoholism.

Watching Aurelia's relationship absolutely broke my heart. No one would say that supporting or dating an alcoholic is easy, but she deserves much more love and none of the nastiness that Gary gives her. It makes me so sad to see her not just remain beside such nasty statements about herself but justify it in her own mind. Haunting but illuminating documentary; Louis is a master at his craft and this was excellently done as usual.

I am so grateful that I watched this today. I'm 61 years old and I just got clean and sober I've been clean and sober for 13 months now. My heart goes out to everyone that is struggling with addiction. If I can get sober you can get sober. I understand it's easier said than done just don't give up don't give up on yourself.

Alcohol is a bandaid. Lasting sobriety depends of treating the underlying emotional distress that leads to self medicating. So when you get sober initially you'll feel great, until you settle back into those old patterns and its back to square one.

I had these neighbours who fell off the wagon. Within 1 month the lady was dead. Personally don’t touch the stuff as it destroyed my father’s life which of course hurt us all.

I'm 44 & started at 16yrs. Drank for a week straight aftr gettin drunk for the 1st time. I lost everything & everyone except my twin sister. Ive had 3 ulcers, gout and multiple seizures. Im still here to make it right w ppl & God. Im thankful.
