Lost Dog Street Band, “Terrible & True” // GemsOnVHS™

GemsOnVHS | May 5, 2026

Met up with Lost Dog street band and hung out near a broken bridge around the north side of Nashville for a little mid-summer song. It started raining about right afterwards, and we had to take cover under said broken bridge for a bit. A fine time was had by all.

You can stream Lost Dog’s tunes on Spotify (https://open.spotify.com/artist/6tkrc…) and all other streaming platforms. Be sure to catch them on tour this summer. Check out the tour dates at https://www.lostdogstreetband.com/.

My dad is a meth addict and an alcoholic. When we were little we got in a bad car accident on the highway because he was driving blackout drunk, and my littlest sister died. Hard times forever after that.
A year later he went to jail for all his DUI's and not paying his fines. I never saw him much after that for a long time.
He was homeless but every once in a blue moon he'd be staying with a friend and my mom would let us go see him. And he was always empty by the time we got to him.

A few years back he started getting his life straight, first job in over twenty years. Cutting meat, something he's really good at and seems to enjoy. No more meth that I know of, still drinks like a fish but we can live with that for now. We've reconnected somewhat, and I love him as I always did, which was always as best as I could figure out how.

In a lot of ways he's still a stranger to me and his motivations for doing the things he's done in his life are a mystery.
But when I'm listening to this song I think I know him.

I got a little girl of my own now and she's named after my sister. He's gonna meet her this thanksgiving. This seed will grow and we'll watch together.

Ben, I don’t know that you know how much you mean to me. You’ve been my safe space since I discovered your music. I’ve always felt at home, through rough times, good times, and everything in between, your music has always spoken to me. I hope I’ll be able to listen to your music forever, you’re a gem. Thank you for sharing your music.

It's good to see Benjamin Tod finally getting recognition. Performing alongside the biggest names in the business. He released gems like this for years and got little to no views.
