Living Single (1993): 15 Weird Facts You Didn’t Know
Living Single (1993): 15 Weird Facts You Didn’t Know
#rememberwhen Living Single was the blueprint — and Friends was just the high-budget remix? Queen Latifah, Kim Coles, Erika Alexander, Kim Fields, TC Carson, and John Henton brought Brooklyn brownstone magic to life with a sitcom that served friendship, ambition, and serious shade. From Fox’s sketchy network decisions to behind-the-scenes drama, lost finales, and one cast member turning into an actual god (seriously), we’re counting down 15 weird, wild, and revealing facts about the show that defined grown-up friendship in the ’90s.
From rotating top billing to real-life moms playing TV moms, and the podcast that finally spilled all the tea — Living Single didn’t just break ground. It paved the way for a generation of sitcoms… even if it never got the credit.

I heard John Henton say that Friends was a rip off of their show. If Fox would've promoted Living Single more it would've blown that show out the waters. Living Single was much more funnier.😂

I liked how Régine was very similar to Blair from The Facts Of Life. I wonder if Kim Fields requested that because watching Lisa Whelchel play a hilarious, entitled, snob for so many years looked fun to her. Either way she nailed the part.

Living Single was one of my favorite 90s shows. I especially loved when Chip Fields was on. Her character was one of the funniest ever.

This was my show!!!! Loved Sinclair and Kadijah the most. I somehow watched Living Single and Friends. Now I’m wondering if I recorded one and watched the other… Either way, thanks for this video. It’s a good one!

THANK YOU for brining up the FRIENDS controversy.
I had the pleasure of interviewing TC “KRATOS” Carson years ago.
He is a God Like Class Act.

"Living Single" was a favorite of mine. "Friends" didn't become one until they went into syndication.

Weirdest things I've ever seen are idiots who falsely claim that the show "Friends" ripped this series off, as if this show created the genre of 20-somethings living in New York. And when I ask for proof, all they cite is an interview where Queen Latifah said that's what happened.
Sounds like jealousy to me.

The show that was exponentially more entertaining than that overrated “Friends” but of course people treat Friends like a benchmark when they just copied this show

I never missed an episode! Black people definitely knew Friends was a ripoff of this show and the discrepancies were obvious. The podcast is very much worth the watch.

I was a kid and watched this new and being excited to watch an episode. I saw one episode of Friends and couldn't figure out why it was being hyped up, I still don't like the show. Yet I still think Living Single is funny
