Frankly, on the subject of "I don't like modern feminists"… A lot of it is because I don't like hypocrites. Anarchafeminists are largely, as a group, guilty of marginalizing any suffering of men, up to the point of denying that men CAN be victims of anything not CAUSED by someone of an equal or higher "privilege level" than themselves.
Also because… As a humanist, I'm sick of hearing feminists say there is no such thing as "egalitarian". That you are either a feminist, or don't support basic human equality. Accusations like that are, in my personal opinion, a great way to make people who would otherwise want to help with your plight… Wabt to bury you neck-high next to a colony of fire ants, slathered in honey.
so… In short, my problem is not with feminism, or anyone else fighting for equal treatment, but the fact that mqny of the loudest feminists out there feel that there would be justice in flipping the script, putting everyone outside their little… Clique lower on the ladder than they are, which, frankly… Is not equality, nor should it be seen as equitable.

I'm one of your female subscribers and I love your videos and I thought you made an excellent point in this video. I consider myself a feminist and the interesting thing is that I didn't realize that people didn't know what it was like to experience things like sexism. I know that sounds strange but a lot of my friends throughout high school were girls who shared a similar mindset with me and it wasn't until college where I met more people when I realized that a lot of men just don't understand the extent of women's issues and sexism in society. I learned that a lot of people who aren't feminists aren't horrible oppressors but are just nice people who haven't experienced the same issues that I have and therefore don't understand them the same way. Anyways thanks for another amazing video!!

i'm not going to do this, because it would be disingenuous, but i must say i'm tempted to use my other google accounts to give this video extra likes. it amazes me how many small and absolutely huge day-to-day societal problems could be eased if not outright solved just by people listening to each other and at least attempting to believe that the stories people tell about their lives are actually true. how simple a solution is that? it's like the cake song says, "some people like to make life a little tougher than it is." don't we all, though?

i've been following Dan Brown for…. EVER, and one of the reasons that I really like him is because he might be wrong about something, but he's always growing, and his opinions are maliable. He calls it how he sees it, but a good argument will change his point of view.

By your own logic then, you should listen When Whites tell you we face some shit as well. I am not denying people have problems, nor will I ever try to invalidate ones problems. But most people, yourself included it seems, Try to act like White people and Men don't face problems. Are not Marginalized.
My second problem is you say we should believe every story that comes across. Simply because it came from someone else who is not of our demographic. One look at tumblr shows you the MASSIVE victim complex that comes from it.
Third, You really don't want Feminism challenged. By saying "no one cares" in such a dismissive way tells me you won't listen to facts. You won't listen to logic. You will straight up ignore the problems in the movement. I don't have a direct problem with Feminists. In fact my Sister who I love very much is a feminist. So is a few of the blogs I follow. One of my favorite mutauls is a feminist. C.H. Sommers is a feminist and one that the Anti Fem community loves very much. Our problem is with the ones who take Feminism to far, Spread misinformation purposely, Won't listen to facts
Lastly. I agree with your original complaint. Feminism does not need to be brought up simply because women's problems are mentioned. Anyone who does such a thing is ignorant.

While anecdotal evidence and experiences are certainly valid forms of evidence to a problem I'm not sure that, by themselves, they give us a fully accurate picture of the problem or a balanced pathway toward solutions. We have to have empathy and we should validate the experiences of others, even if those experiences run counter to our own limited world view, but solutions, in my opinion, also requires that data or statistical evidence be collected honestly. This applies to all statistics (yes, even the statistics that support what one already believes to be true). Dishonesty for the greater good is not going to get us anywhere and will likely just invoke hysteria and irrational behavior.

Thank you for saying the things you did in this video. Too many times the stories of women are just swept aside as bullshit or exaggeration. Like you said, just LISTEN.
My family is made up of almost all women. There are just 3 men in my (massive) family, and two of those are partners, only one man was born into my family. And only ONE of the women in my family HASN'T been a victim of rape or sexual violence.
The stats and the stories are out there, like you say.
Keep doing what you're doing.
Peace & love

Not having watched Dan's video, I feel like the issue here is that people tend to conflate the idea that they are privileged with the idea that they are to blame for being privileged. So they get really defensive right away. Just to be clear, just because you are privileged, doesn't mean it's your fault that privilege exists. But if you willfully ignore others' obstacles because it makes you uncomfortable, then yeah, it's at least a little your fault.

The 1 in 5 stat on rape is pretty crazy high. You know why it's that high? Because most people don't know what the word "rape" actually means.
There are a million definitions and most studies don't use the same one. That 1 in 5 could mean anything depending on how "rape" is defined by the study.
And ladies, get over yourselves. If you get wasted at a party and wake up in bed with some random dude that your not all that attracted to, IT'S YOUR OWN DAMN FAULT!
Don't ruin this dudes life by try to pin a rape charge on him just so your friends won't think your a slut. (And for the record, banging a stranger wile black out drunk a time or two doesn't make you a slut. But you should probly cut down on the drinking)
You put yourself in that situation. You got drunk. You talked this guy up and went home with him(or brought him home with you. Or what ever) he was probly drunk too. Did he take advantage of you? Absolutely. Did he rape you? Fuck no!
And another thing people need to figure out is the difference between rape and harassment. Harassment and even sexual harassment does not equal rape just because it has the word ass in it. A friend of mine was drunk and being a douche to this girl at a bar and a week later he got charged with 1st degree rape. (The charges were eventually dropped. But there still on his record.) All he did was annoy her for an hour or two. Nothing more. That's not rape. But because of this "if she felt like she was being raped, then she WAS being raped!" Movement that going on these days he was charged and will be marked as a rapist for the rest his life. He can't get into college. He can't get a decent job. He can't get a loan. His life was ruined because he was acting like an idiot for a couple hours and pissed off the wrong bitch. (I'm not saying there shouldn't be consequences for his actions. He deserved a good slap in the face and maybe a kick in the nuts, but this bitch literally ruined his entire future. The punishment should fit the crime. And in this case it doesnt.)

Just to play devils advocate – why not trust all these straight white men and their stories – what happens when the stories you listen to conflict? Stories by nature are anecdotal evidence and trusting them is a bit silly. What about witches and other superstition. Having said all that, I would probably not agree with most of those commentors.

"Listening"
"Bruh, nobody gives a shit."
Yep, spoken like a true feminist. It's only worth listening if you're not a white male, evidently. I'm a multi-cultural homosexual and think that attitude is bullshit, and also why feminism has become so controversial. "Listen and Believe," indeed.

I feel like there has to be an additional step so I can't replace "catcalling" (which I agree is an actual problem real people face in the real world) with "alien abduction" (which I don't) in your explanation. Lots of people all over the world (but if you pay attention it's really a lot more in the US) claim to have seen or been abducted by aliens, and their stories all converge… but that's not exactly a better reason to believe that Gray aliens are among us with butt probes and CattleMutilator3000s(TM).
So what can we do to make it easier to believe catcalling happens (because it does), versus alien abductions (because they don't)?
