Don’t give a damn about any sequels (with the exception of the pink girl alien in the second film, she’s cute) but Lilo and Stitch (the orginal) is honestly one of my favorite movies of all time, and absolutely in my top 3 favorite animated films ever. I love stitch, and I love Lilo and Nani, even David and Mr.Bubbles, love them all. It felt literally offensive to make such a bad live action remake. A live action remake could have been so cute too – they could’ve expanded on Stitch’s experiences in space, Lilo and Nani’s struggle to get by, even Nani and David’s romance, ANYTHING BUT THIS.

That ad, was incogni limited before? I'm just imagining seeing like 1000 things to remove and they're like 'well pick 50, that's what you get per month' 😂

We're basically doomed to whatever Disney decides to spit out. A lot of Disney movies especially the live actions, fail from kinda to badly in ratings and reviews, but they rarely fail in making them money. They want more billion dollar grossing movies but don't really lose on many most make back 3-5x+ of their budget. I think the only thing that decides stuff is them picking what they think will make the most and/or be made the cheapest.

The Gantu CGI budget is a weak argument, because a practical Gantu with minimal CG would have been fantastic. Imagine a lightly Vaselined rubber suit on stilts

God I forgot about that little scene in the original where Lilo puts down Stitch's claw to serve as the needle of a record player but it doesn't play until she opens his mouth 😆 It's little scenes like that, that are in no way necessary for the plot but really cute and funny and endearing, that always used to characterise Disney films (at least the best ones) and now rarely do, and when they do they still manage to make it much worse, like here. Another excellent example is the plane wing perfectly knocking the ice cream out of the tourist's hand near the end, such a fun little easily missable detail!

"She'll get over it" – Nani. Are you F*CKING kidding me Disney?! How can you be so tonedeaf, are you TRYING to ruin people's childhoods?! Nani went from a compassionate and caring big sister with way too much responsibility to a bratty teenager with little to no affection for Lilo! Not to mention the many subtle references to historic oppression of Native Hawaiians, Lilo's likely neurodivergence and exotification of Hawaiians by "fat white tourists taking pictures" that were completely removed in the remake. How can a company like Disney oscillate between being too woke, and too toxic?! Great job guys. This film is offensive! Not offensive because it's "not woke" or "not inclusive" or anything political, it's just offensively soulless, offensively corporate, offensively vapid and lacking in depth, offensive to my childhood

It's unspeakable as an adaptation, there's no effort to understand what made the original popular, to stay true to it, or even, know what story they're telling. It's hard to imagine how they could have made it worse

If they couldn't afford the CGI for the film and had to add and remove characters then why make it?
Why use this film as a cash grab, everything that made the original great is not in this film
Nani being genuinely upset about her and Lilo's situation, gone, Stitch as Elvis, just randomly thrown in
Trying to modernise shit instead of creating something new that will relate to the current audience

I once knew a woman who had a terrible mother and no father and so Lilo and Stitch was her comfort movie – Ohana means family and family means no one gets left behind. I wonder how she felt after watching the remake, if she even watched it in the first place

Nostalgia and rage bait are both lazy modern ways to trick people into ratings and money making, especially when the magic, imagination and love has been lost in the new movie. The voice acting has no emotion, Jumba is the villain, lilo is annoying and can’t act and not as sadistic, the aliens are ugly, and the humour is lost with Jumba and pleakley just disguised as two human dudes and not even act like a couple! Cobra bubbles the big beautiful social worker/CIA guy is now just two dull people, Nani is unlikeable and Hawaiian people apparently need Hawaiian culture explained to them.
Disney, please stop. If it ain’t broke, don’t meddle with it. I was fooled with the lion king remake, I would not encourage them again with the others & Lilo and stitch. If they do anything to hunchback I am so done with them.

REMAKE THE REMAKE! Also, the reason Bubbles is 'conveniently' on the beach is because he had been following them, watching Nani trying to get a job while Lelo tries to make Stitch a 'model citizen' as he instructed of them.

Heh, this video just gave me an overwhelming want to watch the og, like i legitimately think that if they just gave the cartoon a rerun in cinemas, they would still get people in theaters.

Disney are cowards. They won't make a live action Mickey mouse movie EVER! They're fine letting other people's creations become abominations for ridicule but LORD FORBID THE MOUSE GETS HIS TURN TO BECOME A MEME!

This is the first one of these stupid remakes that actually feels dystopian. Like if all films from this era were just remakes like this of movies from the 90s it would actually make society worse. But I guess it's really just a representation of the degeneration of society. Its kind of a chicken or egg situation, I think this stuff is probably actually harmful but it comes from things already being bad.

"Updating for modern audiences" used to just adding some token characters that are annoying, one note, and out of place. Now apparently it means, being ignorant, not caring about your family or putting any effort into your relationships, and abandoning your little sister to be swallowed up by the state. It genuinely feels like they have pressure not to offend people who don't take care of their family by making their characters worse people so that film-goers don't compare themselves to the characters in the movie and feel bad about their own flaws and personal failures.

It feels like if they did a remake of "The Pursuit of Happyness" but instead of overcoming his obstacles to look after his son and going through hell to improve his situation by sheer effort and resolve and love, Will Smiths character just abandons his kid, goes on welfare, and becomes a soundcloud rapper.

Apparently Ohana means sticking your sister in the abusive foster care system to go study marine biology in California for some reason instead of just using your free education as a native in Hawaii to study marine biology there, because she is an inconvenience to doing whatever you feel like doing right this second. I think it's obvious these movies are meant for Disney adults and that's why it validates choices like these because the only thing a kid would take away from this movie is that your cant rely on your family. In a movie from the 90s that social worker would literally be a villian.

The critical error all of those remakes are making is forgetting that the medium is part of the message… You can't expect people to apply the same suspension of disbelief for a goofy cartoon aesthetic vs a live-action with 3D animation…
