Losing weight is hard, and obesity is one of the unhealthiest things that can happen to your body. It increases your risk of diabetes, heart attacks, cancer, and can lead to a series of other health complications. But today, the new weight loss drugs are often used to tackle the obesity. How do these drugs work? What do they do to our metabolism, and could they change public health forever?

IMPORTANT:
This is an updated version from the original video we released over a month ago.
The first version did not contain wrong information but our framing was not good enough – after hearing your feedback it was clear that we didn’t communicate the topic well – so we revised the script, made the video longer and added more information and clarifications at key points.

All changes and the link to the original video (now unlisted) can be found here:
Old Version of the Video: https://youtu.be/9t5m33ccUYA
Sources & further reading: https://sites.google.com/view/sources-ozempic/

This whole experience was annoying because we didn’t plan to make a controversial video – this caused us a lot of extra work but was obviously necessary.
Thanks again for your honest feedback and for helping us get better. We truly appreciate it.

to their core, GLP1 drugs are avoidable and unnecessary for people with enough force of will. It's not like hunger is holding you at gunpoint to eat, it's just a signal that you know you should ignore for your own benefit but you do not. Instead of making lifestyle changes (permanent healthier diets, more vegetables, less calory dense foods, no sugar when possible, no trash food when possible, exercise) people will take a shortcut any day of the week. GLP1 drugs have allowed the weak-willed to be healthier again (which is good), a 21st century problem that shouldn't exist if we moved a little and didn't eat trash

i am quite fit, long distance running, weight training and climbing. my bodyfat is in a very reasonable area (enough to see some abs).

i tried this because i wanted to have a sixpack once in my life (i know i i know). after the first week i reduced the dose to the lowest recommended and stayed there for a month, losikg roughly 4kg (from 82 to 78 at 185cm)

let me tell you. not feeling starved every day? not feeling crqvings 24/7? its like when you have a constant headache thats gone and you didnt know you had it because you were so used to it.

i was afraid i could get hooked to the feeling of not starving so i stopped taking it but it really gave me new perspective, especially for people who would suffer like me but not have the will to do what i do. i never couldve thought that people could suffer more or not at all in regards to hunger

Remember when I told you that either the Ozempic video is sponsored or there will be an Updated version? Gotcha!
(Gj Kurzgesagt – for update when it is needed)

Is being addicted to drug for life bad? Well… in times of peace and good economy – probably not. But there is also the other possibility.
Even indirect conflict or breakdown may result in "my precious" drug not available due to economy changes or supply lines broken.

    Well it's true my obesity is a matter of inches. When I was 14, I was 115 when I was 18 I was 135 when I was 24 180, now I'm 30 and I'm 220. An a " healthy" BMI for me is 120

I really doubt that the majority of people will change their life while taking Ozempic. I would even bet, that a lot of people are taking it before even trying to change anything just because it's easier

Ozempic and Mounjaro are the convenience-Solution but teaches you nothing about yourself and your body and most people i know "refeed" rather quickly after stopping taking them. I think Ketogenic diets and eating appropriate to your Metabolism is the better solution than just getting surgery or using a drug… I lost 20% of my bodyweight in the first couple of month of Keto, I learned to understand what my body realy wants. I Understand that some people need help at the beginning but Ozempic and Co. can't be the long term solution.
