This was wonderful to see, speaking as an older and life-long late night and stand-up fan. Also one of those rare ones who, up until Conan went off the air, actually did watch entire episodes (though admittedly ad-free the next day). Re: Colbert, I lost my deeply-held respect for him when he gave a slavish interview to Mel Gibson when he was promoting whatever dumb comedy he came back with. I'd been watching Colbert diligently since he was first introduced on The Daily Show and was genuinely so disgusted when the interview ended and he not only hadn't brought up his horrific past but literally hadn't stopped serving up softballs and kissing his ass that I turned the episode off and haven't watched anything he's done since. Even if it's someone I really want to see. Dead-on btw regarding what a terrible, egotistical interviewer he is with fellow entertainers and the exhausting, unfunny mess with Trump. Also a feature of his ego, interestingly enough — he's the smart funny comedy genius taking down the big dumb orange monster and shouldn't we all be so pleased with him?

Iduno.. Who cares if they're 'nice people'… Is the show funny and good?
I just kinda don't like for whatever reason when people take these guyses perceived off-camera personalities and traits into account when judging the show and what they do.

It's like… People listening to U2 because they're "nice guys".. Or whatever..
    I don't like it.

That said Conan IS the greatest and I hate Dave Letterman because he seems to me like a gated-community kind of guy and I don't like it, so I don't like his show.
Also F him for banning and throwing Harmony Korine out that one time. Harmony Korine is the greatest.

Seth's In-Depth analysis was good before he let his bias completely take over. It's not a genuine analysis anymore, it's an analysis specifically written to convey a one-sided view of the subject he's analyzing.

Oliver is boring as fuck and most unfunny thing I saw in years. Then again they are fake boring with scripted "comedy" written by 50 writers in the background.
I also loved Conan until he became a shithead politics critic and he was so wrong about it on such a high level. But before that I used to binge his stuff.

Just my 2 cents on that part with Lily Singh, Conan was immersed in comedy culture before he went to Late Night, he idolized Carson, worked on SNL, wrote for the Simpsons, there was even an anecdote that the reason he was also noticed and considered for Late Night was because he always made comedians laugh so hard while developing sketches on the writers room…not sure if Lily was in on that culture before she became a host, so I think it's not a fair comparison that Conan was new like how Lily was new

lilly singh was genuinely a terrible choice for a late night show. her comedy literally only appeals to children and is entirely skit-based racial stereotypes humour. she can't do anything in a spontaneous setting and it showed with her show. she just also isn't a good interviewer.

I hated seeing Conan get screwed by NBC but I don't think Jay Leno did him as dirty as we previously thought. Jay Leno didn't want to quit the Tonight Show, he didn't have plans to step down. NBC wanted to keep Conan at the end of Conan's contract and in resigning him said he'd get the Tonight Show in 5 years…not really Jay's fault, I'd be hard to force retire too. Especially after Leno was being moved around to keep him from signing with Fox or ABC or CBS and the reason they ultimately got rid of Conan or Jay was because when Jay renegotiated his contract he was valued at +100m while Conan was 20m-30m so they broke the cheaper contract.
