A Homestead Journey | October 10, 2026

Kroger shoppers are starting to realize what is really happening at the store and people are getting angry. From detailed customer profiles, the growing use of AI, digital pricing, and surveillance technology at retailers like Walmart, the way Americans shop is changing fast. What looks like a simple grocery discount may come with a much bigger tradeoff.

I don't use their stupid digital deals app. It probably doesn't do much. Maybe start going to the little Japanese market downtown. Just another reason I wish I was in North Korea.

One time I needed help at self check. The machine processed my credit card without me waving it over the pad or inserting it. Don’t like this feature at all.

Target did that to me. I paid cash. I then received an email from Target inquiring about my purchase. I do have the Target debit card but I did not use it during the purchase and I did not provide any other identifying information. I gave them zero info. Yes!

We NEED legislation that allows customers to either profit from or opt out of the sale of their own data. Letting companies sell this to each other while we get taken advantage of is a very raw deal.

Can you fathom being so incredibly stupid YOU use your phone to download stuff or use apps and are shocked by this – most people do so much on their phones – you do not have to use apps or get a Kroger card or anything like this

I told my. I’m back in the 90’s that the Government was behind the ‘savings cards.’ Back then they asked how many people were in the household and the age ranges. Now they give our information to random companies to sell us more products. They cater our online coupons to our sending habits. It is gross!

I go to kroger every week, and I can guarantee that this isn't working for one simple reason….when I decide that I like something, withing a few weeks, it will not be on the shelves…I WISH IT WAS WORKING !!! Also, they just acquired Giant Eagle, a chain that outclassed then in EVERY WAY! Now our local store is being remodeled to resemble Giant Eagle….

No. When we walk into a grocery store to buy things, we are not the product. When a firm wanting to buy our data approaches a grocery chain, THEN we are the product.

Hey, guys! I'm sharing this and you can take it or ignore it, but my family and other spiritual leaders have been getting prophetic words from the Lord about some thing big that will hit the US infrastructure that will catch alot of people off guard. And they have been told to warn everyone to make sure that prepare physically by storing food and water but also spiritually because what is to come will be awful.

All this info collected is going into computer bases, this is the beast system the bible speaks of. One day you will no longer be able to buy or sell unless you conform to an ungody world system. If i were you i would settle my soul with God, repent and believe, Jesus will come before a lot of this takes place i believe ! Yes it will get bad, the the tribulation will be unbelievable ! Only hope is in Jesus Christ the Lord ! Do you really believe that ?? examine your self and make sure !!

I don't give phone numbers,e mails or use those little plastic "discount" cards – tracking your purchases, date and times. It's no bodies business where I was or what I bought. They still have the cameras but I can't stop that. Plus I'm a cash only gal.

After hearing about the biometric recording
    Me: a bit unnerved
Also me: wanting going into these stores and mess with the biometrics just to see what would happen by picking up a whole bunch of random unrelated items (vinegar, book, lawnchair) looking at them, making ridiculous facial expressions, putting them in my cart, putting them back in random places.

Sorry, they are tracking your vehicle through the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS light that show up on your dash) that notifies you, you have a tire that has low pressure. Between the 5 tires, you have a unique signature because the tires are constantly transmitting to the computer, and everywhere

This data collection has been going on for decades. I tried to explain this to people as these systems were being implemented.
A smart phone is the chip and the barcode once feared by many, but far worse. You pay for, heavily rely on, and covet such.
Notice how loyalty programs were free to join. Once enough people participate, they charge for such and punish non-subscribers with higher prices.

I quit kroger over a year ago. Every time I got a delivery items would be missing or I was over charged. Now I use a different local grocery store who has Shipt vs. Instacart my deliveries are flawless. Forget Kroger.

I just went into Walmart yesterday. I hadn’t been in there in probably three or four months and I noticed how much surveillance there is now and I felt like I was in jail. I do not ever wanna go back unless it’s an emergency.
