need to see Blayne review the new Warning album.

This review could have been half as long if you only talked about the actual band. I get your rambling is a part of the whole spiel, but its really getting out of hand.

Disagree. The first three tracks aren't too short. If they were three minutes a piece, sure, but they're almost five.

I didn't really like this band until this record came out and they clicked.

I like Khemmis but I won't touch their latest album for the cover art alone.

I've been a huge fan of Samuel Turner's covers and was so disappointed when this cover was revealed. Its just underwhelming for what have consistently been some of the sickest and unique album covers to date. Saw them last night, first night of their tour. Granted, they may need to warm up, but again, their performance felt underwhelming too. Some songs still hit hard, but it felt so orchestrated and performative. Like, you almost felt they had a scheduled time to do the leaning back to back guitar play moment.

I love this band

Someday, I'd like Blayne to actually LIKE metal, not just Hipster Jockstrap-core

Thanks, Blayne.
Also disappointed with the album cover, but happy with the tunes by and large. Certainly the one I've enjoyed the most since Hunted.

Having listened to the album, find myself agreeing with you that setting aside the first three songs that channel their inner Alter Bridge, the fourth song on is solid and worthy of listening to on rotation. 3 (maybe 3.5) of 5 skulls is a very fair assessment.

Blayne is only happy when albums have black metal vocals spewing about his dark lord Satan.

Oh no way!
My mom's bday is also July 4th.
She's been asking me, from 900+ kms away what she should do for her 70th birthday…
I'll tell her to tune in to Metal Comedy.

Classic Blaine—ranting about changes in a band nobody knows or cares about 😂

Overproduction killed this band, and I think that since the last album

I want to love khemmis but I can't get through the singing something feels off to me and I'm disappointed by myself because that sound really nice otherwise 😢

I dug the first single. And the album is pretty solid IMO. But yeah. The cover art is horrible. Really don't understand what the thought or idea behind it was.

The new Warning album is preety fucking awesome if you’re looking for some quality doom metal.

Yeah, something fell off on my first listen. Cover, speed, amount of tracks, everything you've listed. I'll give it more, but I'm initially disappointed. Shame.

After 1 Listen: Whelp, this is their worst album for sure. Big letdown
After 2 Listens: I think they are trying to tap into the Mastodon market except they aren't as good of songwriters as Mastodon and shouldn't try to be. It's not going to happen.
After 3 Listens: Ok, they tried some things and tracks 4-8 are still great. Grower album. I think it's better than their last album.

cover is pretty weak compared to the others and the album wasn't terrible, i dig it. agree tracks 1-3 aren't strong.

The album cover also didn’t land with me. And I thought the debut single was the weakest song on the album. Liked the album though 👍

The more I listen to this album the more I like it, it’s definitely growing on me and I love when it gets heavy 🔥🤘

This was my first Khemmis album. I really like it overall, enough that I bought a physical copy. I think the entire album is good, but agree that it gets much better from Beneath The Scythe forward. I really like the album art, but I wasn't familiar with the previous album covers. Beneath The Scythe is a great song, total banger.

Turning 40 this year too! woo! good on ya! also i am going to do a full album listen now. we usually line up in what we like. This time I will prob end up liking those longer doomy ones better. love all the old Khemmis.

These guys have always seemed very middle-of-the-road to me. I always like what I hear but have no desire to hear it again. Nothing sticks in my head. I'll skip on picking up this one just like I have everything else they have done. Thanks for the review though, Blayne!

Another doom or doom adjacent album release, another Blayne review. Just as obnoxious as the last.

As for the music, I’ve found this album to be a grower. I’ve been a huge fan of them since the beginning, and although I found Deceiver to be a very strong album, they were feeling too bound by their slower doom leanings. I actually really appreciate them mixing things up. The musicianship is top notch they’ve just gotten better at their instruments. Ultimately I disagree pretty strongly with Blayne on this one. But I still love him. Hail!

I'm a big fan of Khemmis, but this is also my least favorite album they've done. It's not bad, just my least favorite. Feels less doomy and missing more of the guitarists harsh vocals.
