I am 65+ and noticing some stuff declining with my brain. Going to get tested. Just got a brain MRI too. Baseline if all is good. Early detection meds if not so good. Dad and grand dad had it so I am paranoid.

I started learning Portugese three years ago. I studied almost every day. Really studying like at school. Verbs, nouns. Over and over again. And now after three years I begin to understand it. It's hard work. I'm 76. So it takes longer. But I was determined to keep my brains working. The same thing with learning to play the guitar. You'll never learn it by practicing twice a week. And exercise every day. It keeps you young. Old is the new young. ❤ from Amsterdam

Men, for some reason, resist going to the doctor to investigate symptoms. It's stupid and ridiculous. Especially when you have access to Medicare.

If you misplace your car keys that's distraction or forgetfulness, if you find them eventually in the dishwasher or the freezer that might be the beginnings of dementia. There is a difference. If you are putting milk in the kitchen cabinet it might be good to go get tested for dementia just to be sure.

In my twenties, with 3 kids I would forever put the kettle on and pop out to the garden, come back to steamy house, refill kettle, push toast back down, pop out to the garden again, repeat. Now that I'm older, not so much 🙂

I used to work in Rockefeller Center in the early 1990s. They had a weekend elevator where you had to use a security code or card, can’t recall. I’m in there by myself one day and he comes in just before the door closes. As the elevator is shooting upwards, he is trying to put in his floor. Somehow erases mine. He was very nice and apologetic. I, being grumpy to begin with for working on a Saturday, was a bit “demonstrative” when I re-entered my floor. I think the stove thing is likely his natural state. 😂

My ex-wife insisted on verbally cutting me off/finishing my sentences . That's why she is my ex . Lately my son has started doing it too . My soon-to-be- estranged son …

People that look like they are saying what you are saying without the sound are actually reading your hips. As a nurse that has worked closely with speech pathologists this is common in people that can’t hear well, as they are reading your lips their mind is mimicking the words. It like helps them to understand what they are reading since they can’t hear

My 60 year old husband often leaves the stove on…and forgets he is cooking something…not dementia…he’s always distracted because he smokes too much weed!

I'm caring for two individuals with advanced Dementia. Sadly, for decades and decades, they were quite narcissistic, stubborn, egotistical, obstinate, and arrogant. This is despite having almost NO training nor serious knowledge in almost any field. Unfortunately, those (negative) qualities are magnified twelvefold during the stages of Dementia. They fought it all the way, denied it, ignored it, scoffed at it, etc. And now others are left to pick up the pieces.

"Old age is when you misplace your glasses. Dementia is when you forget you wear glasses. Schizophrenia is when you think you're Ben Franklin, one of the inventors of glasses."

NO one wants to talk about the damage Covid can do to the brain. Everyone wants to think it is ADHD it is not. The science is there to prove it.

The fact that Neil has a girlfriend is probably the most disturbing thing. Can’t really imagine a man more unattractive physically and or mentally and personality wise. I guess he must have a couple bucks. It just makes me think even worse of women and I haven’t even seen her. where did this ego come from? Somewhat inflated much like Chappelle who I hear you connected to for some reason is it guilt?

Mental blocks have plagued me my entire life and there has been no single answer to breaking through them.

For learning Spanish, I had to take multiple approaches. Labeled everything in Spanish in my home with post-its to learn vocabulary. Put numerical post-its on money to learn numbers. Listened to slow Spanish while writing it out. On occasion had some very patient Spanish speaking friends helping me with some back and forth conversation

Everything had to be interactive or it just wouldn't stick
