Hello to Friends of The Red Nation. I am glad in hearing Ms. Ortiz correctly using the word "fascist" in relation to the United States. In the final analysis, European settler colonialism and fascism are one and the same phenomenon because they both have the same two inextinguishable essential features – (1) ideologically bourgeois chauvinistic ethnonationalism and bigotry and (2) ideologically bourgeois cross-class collaboration. Furthermore in that same final analysis, we see that only the imperialist nations can be fascistic, and the briefest definition of settler colonialism is creation of a nation through imperialism.

As a 2nd generation Italian-American, I despise that the US still celebrates Columbus Day. Out of all the Italians who have lived over the years, they had to choose one of the worst to celebrate. Columbus was an invader, a murderer, and a child rapist and enslaver. For any who are interested, I’d suggest reading his(Columbus’s)diary. They can just as easily have an Italian pride day and get Columbus out of it. The same applies to “Thanksgiving”. Since most people celebrate by having a feast with friends and family, they could just have a feast day without celebrating the theft of Indigenous land, the enslavement, rape, and murder of Native People, language, culture, traditions, religious beliefs, histories, clothing, hairstyles, etc. ad nauseam. The first step to correcting this manifest destiny farce is educating the people with the truth and doing away with this “great mythical past”, which is at best semi-historical and more often than not complete fiction.
